Family Newsletter

November 1, 2021

Hello Families,

Today is the first day of November. The students have been back to school for 2 months. We have settled into our school routines. I am impressed with the students' resilience and ability to handle changes. I am also very impressed with the teachers and the staff. School is very different this year and we are constantly navigating new situations and protocols.

The weather is changing and we are having wet and cold days. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Our goal is to go outside during recesses for the fresh air and movement break.

Arrival: If your child is late to school they will need to come to the office to check in. All bus riders will be transitioning through the front office as it is rainy and dark in the mornings. The outside doors will not be open in the morning to drop off students.

Vision and Dental Screening: We have our annual health screening on Wednesday, November 3rd. Kindergartners, 1st and 2nd grade students will have a vision screening with the support of the Lions Club. All students will have a dental screening. Information will be sent home with your child.

Safety Drills: During the month of October we completed several safety drills. As a school we practiced drills for fire and earthquake. We also practiced what to do if we needed to relocate to a different part of the building or if we needed to lock down the classroom. We also discussed how to be safe on a school bus.

Family-Teacher Conferences: Family-Teacher Conferences (AKA Parent-Teacher Conferences) are scheduled for Tuesday, November 9th, 3:15pm - 7:15pm and Wednesday, November 10th, 7:15am - 7:15pm. Classroom teachers sent an email to their families on Friday with an electronic conference sign-up. If you did not receive the email please contact your child's teacher or Ms. Jacelyn in the office.

No School on Wednesday, November 10th-Friday, November 12th. We have Family-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, November 9th. Thursday, November 11th is the Veteran's Day Holiday, Friday, November 12th is the conference make-up day.

November TOSA Meeting Rescheduled: Due to Family-Teacher Conferences we have rescheduled the November TOSA Meeting. Please join the meeting on Tuesday, November 16th at 7:00 to learn more about how TOSA is supporting the school, the teachers and the students.

Thank you for your support. Wishing our families a wonderful week!

Ms. Denisa

AVID Showcase - September/October

Twin Oaks Elementary classrooms used the AVID Strategy, Successful Student to discuss what traits make a Marvelous Monstar at Twin Oaks.

Students then created their own version of a Marvelous Monstar, surrounding it with their beliefs, attitudes, and characteristics that they believe will guide them toward success this school year.
