RVHS Weekly Newsletter

Friday March 12th 2021

Message From The Principal

Top o' the mornin' to ya.

It has been a busy week on the Ranch as we are getting ready for the anticipated return of students on Tuesday, April 6. We are excited to see our students and get back to some level of normalcy. Next week we will send out a newsletter detailing our return to campus plans and the safety protocols.

In the meantime, Credit #2 ended on March 5. Today is the district wide day for teachers to prepare progress reports. Progress report grades will be updated in Infinite Campus on Tuesday, March 16. The grade shown on the progress report is the cumulative grade of credits #1 and #2 as well as the 1st week of credit #3. At the end of the semester, any student with a cumulative grade of 70% or higher will automatically earn all 5 credits. If a student earns less than 70% cumulatively, the teacher will assign them one credit for each individual credit in which the student earned 70% or more. Please reach out to any teacher, our counselor or myself if you have questions.

We got this!

Mr. Timothy Paul Patrick O'Dignan

Welcome Mr. Quintana

We are excited to introduce Mr. Michael Quintana as the new 11th grade counselor at RVHS through at least the end of the school year. Mr. Quintana will be serving all of our juniors. He can be reached via email or phone. All juniors and their families should look for an email from him in the near future.

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Heaven Bryant

I am nominating Heaven Bryant for the student of the week for a number of reasons. Heaven attends our Zoom meetings regularly and is 100% with having her camera on, even before there was extra credit for doing so. Along with this, she is always willing to participate in our class discussions, or even just chat about life in general. Heaven completes assigned work on time and with a solid effort. She is a great asset to my class and I love having her as a student!

Ellaisa Fulgar

Ella has been a joy to have in class. She always does a great job on her work, asks questions to understand things better, and works really hard to learn more and more. She got a perfect score on her most recent math quiz. Keep up the great work, Ella!

EMPLOYEE OF THE WEEK

Sherri Hatchett

Sherri Hatchett joined RVHS last semester to help out with our learning hubs. She was brought over to be a hub supervisor from Vail Elementary, where she was a Behavior Assistant in their MAPS program. Prior to working with elementary students she spent the majority of her career as an aide at Great Oak High School. Sherri’s experience with both high school and elementary made for a smooth transition to RVHS.

Sherri is great at connecting with students and extremely generous. She always found ways to encourage the student and keep them on track. Sherri greeted every student at the door and created a very warm and welcoming environment. She had folders of students’ names, class schedules, contact information, and more. She made calls to all of the students that were missing from the hub to find out why they were absent. She worked with individual students to help them succeed with online learning. Mrs. Hatchett made a big impact in a small amount of time while in the hubs. Now with each site bringing back staff to campus, Mrs. Hatchett must return to Vail. She invested a great deal of time and effort into our hubs, making sure the students were taking care of and had a place to work. With that said, Mrs. Sherri Hatchett you are the Employee of the Week, you will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for all of your hard work and time. It was great having you with us.

TIME CHANGE THIS WEEKEND!!

Remember to change your clocks!! Spring forward!!

CAP/GOWN/TASSEL INFORMATION

“We want to update senior families with an anticipated time frame for TVUSD to decide on graduation and promotion activities. We continue to monitor the current case rates closely and required color tiers. TVUSD secondary site administrators have agreed to wait until spring break to decide graduation and promotion activities and what format they will proceed with, based on information available at that time."

In the meantime, we will continue to do everything possible to celebrate and recognize our seniors appropriately and ensure that our seniors are provided memorable events to honor their achievements. We will be sending updates to our graduating seniors and families with an anticipated time frame from our District Office of the direction of our graduation and promotion activities for 2021 graduates that we will be able to offer.

At this time, if you would like to order your senior’s cap/gown/tassel to celebrate their graduation accomplishment, we have provided you with two forms. One is instructions for ordering a cap/gown/tassel with a credit card online through Jostens. The other is an actual form to print, fill-in and mail along with a check to Jostens. Please read the instructions carefully as there is an April 2, 2021 deadline for both options. If you have any questions or concerns about your graduation status, please reach out to Ms. Rice our school counselor at krice1@tvusd.us or 951-401-9935. There is no guarantee that RVHS will be permitted to hold an in person graduation. RVHS is not responsible for any refund requests.
