Newsletter Term 1 Week 4
St Patrick's School Masterton 28th February 2023
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa, nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa!
The key message of the upcoming Second Sunday of Lent is based on the Transfiguration in the Gospels. The Transfiguration of the Lord is the moment of disclosure of Christ’s Divine glory. He uses this event to build the faith of his followers and prepare them to witness his death. During Lent, we, too, are invited to strengthen our relationship with God. We are called to repent(feel regret) and to have an inward change of heart. This lesson helps us to understand that Jesus is indeed the Son of God and that the Transfiguration can inspire us to become closer to God during Lent.
Last Wednesday, all children started the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday liturgies led by our Director of Religious Studies. Thank you to the Chanel College senior students who supported us and helped distribute ashes to the children.
Tomorrow, we start to move the Hub 2 & 3 furniture and children back into their newly refurbished classrooms. As you can see from the photograph below the classrooms are looking great and all we are now waiting for is two heat pumps to be hooked up to the power and a final clean by our school cleaners. I am sure the children and staff will thoroughly enjoy these new environments.
Over the past week, we have had a number of staff, including myself, who have been absent from school after contracting Covid 19. Can we please ask that everyone closely monitors their children for any signs of sickness and if they show any signs or symptoms, then please test them. At school we do have a supply of tests and if you are in need of any of these please contact the school office.

St Patrick’s Day Food Fair - 5pm 17th March 2023
For our upcoming food fair being held on Friday 17th March 2023 we are asking our community for support in the following way:
donation of vouchers to purchase food from local stores
donations of mystery bottles for our popular mystery bottle stall. These could be things such as a bottle of sauce, jam, bubble bath, shampoo, juice etc but please no alcohol due to the need for a liquor licence to have alcohol at our fair.
All of the above can be brought in from now on to the school office. If you are also able to help in any way on the day e.g. helping set up, running a stall, lending a gazebo or trestle table we would be very thankful.
