Welcome to the library's newsletter. I share news at the end of each nine weeks. As always, let me know if you have suggestions!
What's new?
I'm back!
Thanks to all who helped manage the library while I was on maternity leave, especially Alex and Holly during academic support, and Amber on days when she was available.
Please let me know if you would like to schedule any library time with me. You can view the calendar here, or let me know if you want me to send you an invite to add it to your own Google calendar. I'm looking forward to collaborating with you and your classes.
Library Happenings
Reading Classes
Mrs. Pursley's and Ms. Mansfield's reading classes visited the library in November and December to participate in Jólabókaflóðið, an Icelandic tradition that celebrates reading. Students responded to a survey that asked them about their likes, dislikes, and preferences, and I chose 2-3 books for each student based on their responses. They returned on no-tech day to receive their selections and spend a period enjoying and sharing books. We even used an old-school dictionary to look up challenging words!
Have you seen ...
The Stolen Year
I recently added a new book to our professional collection called The Stolen Year: How COVID Changed Children's Lives, and Where We Go Now. Through interviews and data, the author investigates how the pandemic affected families and challenged our systems. Let me know if you want to borrow it -- I'm almost finished reading it and would love to discuss!
