Professional Development Day on February 1, 2016
The next system professional development day is Monday, February 1, 2016. System staff development activities will take place in the afternoon while Rice Lake activities will take place in the morning. Our Rice Lake Equity Team will be planning our site activities for that day.
Pre-School for the 2016-2017 School Year
Preliminary plans for the 2016-2017 school year include increasing pre-school programming at Rice Lake for next year. We will continue to offer a Four Star Express program and will be adding Early Childhood Family Education classes. Information about these programs and enrollment opportunities will be shared with families this winter.
Honk! Jr. the Musical
Community Education has communicated with families and will continue to do so about our school musical, Honk! Jr. Fifteen students are currently enrolled and the cast will be rehearsing after school in preparation for a March 8, 2016, school performances and evening performances on March 10 and 11, 2016.
Substitute Plans
Thank you for working to have complete and updated substitute folders and for having a full complement of substitutes in your preferred list in AESOP. Another thing that is helpful is as a first priority, please connect with a teammate or colleague to communicate with and share/email substitute plans. You may use the office staff as a back-up to that or in case of emergency but please make arrangements to communicate and work with a teammate or colleague, first. Thank you!
Being Part of History!
One of my goals this winter is to embrace the season like I recently read Norwegians do. They get out and appreciate the beauty and activities only winter can bring. One of my new experiences was attending the Vikings-Seahawks playoff game and being part of history. While I would have preferred a different outcome, it was a great adventure. It was the coldest game in Vikings history, the 3rd coldest in NFL history, and the first outdoor playoff game in Minnesota since 1976. With lots of good advice and multiple layers of everything, Kip and I had a blast! Hopefully this will inspire me to get out more this winter and enjoy the beauty and activities. I'm ready, Minnesota!
