FROM MS. BERNARD:
Greetings FitzGerald School!
I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and slightly warmer weather we have had this week!
This month during Open Circle, we are talking about our Core Value of Personal Ownership. Students are learning what it means to take personal responsibility for their own actions, words and behaviors. Students are also learning what it means to take responsibility for their own materials and belongings in and out of school.
Please check out the literacy selections we have right here in our library!

If you would like your child to bring home one of these books, please reach out to me or their teacher and we can send it home with them!
The Fourth Grade Council is underway! Students that are participating chose their committees this week and will begin meeting with their groups next week. Be on the lookout for some fabulous initiatives our students will be engaging in during the upcoming weeks!
Lastly, all students have been invited to participate in our “100 Acts of Kindness Challenge”. Students have been engaging in a variety of kindness acts towards each other and their teachers. Throughout this week, students turned in a sun that will be displayed in our lobby area! Great job to all who showed an act of kindness!
I hope everyone has a relaxing winter break in a couple of weeks and look forward to lighter, longer days and more opportunities to get fresh air outside!
In health,
Ms. Bernard

- PTO Enrichment Committee Update: Happy Black History Month!!! This month the PTO has planned some activities in collaboration with the school. Each morning during the announcements, the students will learn an interesting fact about a Black American. Teachers have been given the option to then extend the discussions within their classrooms. Keep your eyes peeled in the Fitzy Flyer for a link to the slide deck so that you can learn and discuss with your kids too! The PTO has also purchased 3 books for each classroom to add to their libraries. The books were chosen with input from the school librarian so that we know that the kids will really love them! Finally, in the week before break, a speaker will be coming into the school to teach the students about music and dance and how they are a big part of the African American culture! We hope everybody enjoys!
