Message from Ms. Gullo
Dear Yellow Springs Families,
I hope this message finds you all doing well, staying healthy and safe. It is hard to believe we are now in the month of November and quarter two of the school year! As we enter into the Thanksgiving season, the Yellow Springs staff would like to thank you all for your efforts in helping our students during virtual learning. We recognize all your efforts to make the best learning situations possible for your child(ren). We know it is not easy and we appreciate everything you are doing! I would like to extend my gratitude to the staff at Yellow Springs. Their hard work and continued commitment to our Yellow Springs Eagles is awe-inspiring!
As we move into quarter two, please know our teachers will be using due dates for assignments. Most assignments will have a two-week window for completion. If there are extenuating circumstances that your child(ren) will not be able to complete the assignment in the time frame, please contact the teacher. Please know this two-week window for assignment completion will include the assignments from specials classes (art, music, and physical education) too.
As you may have heard at the Board of Education's public meeting November 11, 2020, the Board voted that FCPS will move from the virtual learning model to the hybrid learning model for students in grades prek-12 beginning with the start of the second semester, Thursday, January 28, 2021. Parents will continue to have the option to keep their child(ren) enrolled in the virtual learning model. Please know communication will be coming from FCPS to determine your choice for your child(ren)'s learning model.
Please know that the Board's action includes the provision that the schedule is subject to modifications by FCPS Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban, working in collaboration with the Frederick County Health Department and considering metrics and guidance provided by the Maryland Department of Health and the Maryland State Department of Education.
Wishing all our Yellow Springs families a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving holiday!
Best regards, Sue
