NAESP: Report to Parents - Executive Functioning, FAQ's
Executive Functioning is a crucial set of skills which are important to every child's learning and development - they are inter-related and operate in coordination with the other sets of skills. This week's Report to Parents, "Executive Functioning, FAQ's," discusses how we (as parents and educators) might assist and help our children develop these sets of skills - by providing the right environmental conditions - to help promote the positive behaviors and healthy life choices - now and into their futures.
"Executive function is a set of skills that help your child make plans, control behavior, and set goals. Your child’s growing brain, as Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child describes it, is like a busy airport, and executive function is its air-traffic control system. It allows a child to focus on an activity, remember details, and manage their time—all critical tasks for success in school."

On Canvas: Art Department News
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello! I am so excited to be your art teacher this year at Butler Elementary School! This will be my sixteenth year teaching art. I am originally from Central Bucks, but lived and taught in Loudoun County, Virginia for fourteen years, before returning home to beautiful Bucks County. I believe that all students are artists, and I look forward to an exciting year creating and thinking like artists in the art room!

CB Symphony - Music Department Fundraiser at Ooka!
In July of 2020, members of the CB West, East, & South High School Orchestras will embark on a Study Abroad trip to the Stirling Bridge International Arts Festival. We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Ooka Doylestown. They have designed a Scottish- inspired sushi roll for us, called the Symphony Roll. It will be on their menu for the month of October, and they are generously donating 100% of its profits to us! This money will be used to lower the cost of those going on the Scotland Trip. Please see the attached flyer and picture of the roll- it’s delicious!
On Tuesday, 10/1, the CB Music Department will host a trip kick-off dinner at Ooka Doylestown from 5:00-9:00 PM. We invite the community to join us for dinner that evening. A world-renowned Scottish bagpiper will welcome you, there will be auction items available, HS student string quartets serenading you, and the Symphony Roll will be premiered. If you can’t join us for dine-in, take-out is also available. Please consider ordering our roll at this event and/or throughout the month of October. Thank you in advance for your support of our students!
