Christmas Program 2019

Here's an update for this year's program

As you recall . . .

All the way back in August, parents received a letter outlining the exciting changes for this year's Christmas Program. In short, we will be having our traditional program for students in grades K-5. New this year, and based on feedback from parents, students, and staff, students in grades 6-8 will perform a Christmas play after an intermission following the K-5 program.

K-5 Christmas Program

The K-5 Christmas Program will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Hall in Orland. This event is open to the community, however, because of capacity limitations, we do encourage just families of K-5 students to attend. After the program, and if there are no siblings in the junior high play, we encourage families to take the youngsters home and get them into bed as we do have school the next day.

6-8 Christmas Play

We're very excited to introduce our first junior high play, "What Could Go Wrong the Night Before Christmas?" Students will perform the play after a 30-minute intermission from the K-5 program, we anticipate the intermission to be 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. The play will begin at 7:30 p.m. And like the K-5 program and because of capacity, we encourage just families of 6-8 students to attend.

In the next few weeks, any student in grades 6-8 who are interested in being part of the play will have the opportunity to try out for the play. Mr. Edwards and Mrs. Mason will oversee try-outs and rehearsals, which will be held Tuesday through Thursday mornings from 7:45 - 8:30 a.m. As the day of the play gets closer, they may need after school rehearsals as well.

Also, keep in mind, if your child wants to be involved in the play but is not comfortable with a speaking role, we are looking for a group of students to help out in various other ways such as set design and as stage hands. Specific to set design, Mr. Edwards will be overseeing the construction of the sets in the School Enhancement elective on Mondays and Tuesdays, so even if your student isn't the acting type but still wants to be involved, have them check in with Mr. Edwards regarding set design! They can also check in with Mr. Edwards regarding what it takes to be a stage hand. Remember, there's a lot to a play than just the speaking parts!

Our goal is to include every student in grades 6-8 who wants to be a part of this production regardless of role!

Tentative Schedule

6:30 p.m. K-5 Christmas Program

Special Seating Announcement

During the annual Spaghetti Feed and Carnival, six front-row seats were auctioned off for both performances. The Salinas Family were high bidders and will have six seats reserved for them in the front row the night of the performance. We appreciate their support in this fundraiser.

As in year's past, the doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for the K-5 program.
