Cougar "Prints"
Week of March 26
Updated Safety Procedure Concern - Please read as we will have safety checks
We will conduct random safety checks of doors and share with teachers one of two things: 1) door followed safety expectations; 2) door did not follow safety expectations and will provide the specific context of the check. This is an extremely important county and school expectation.
Observations and Teacher Walk-Through Instrument
Donna and I have begun our final round of observations the last couple of weeks, and we will also include the walk-throughs at this time. I previously shared the instrument via email. Once completed by one of us, it will automatically send each of you an email. All you have to do is click on your name in the far right of the gray box included in the email.
Instructional Rounds - UPDATE TO SIT PLAN
I know many have completed one or more in the last few weeks. We will send out another form before the end of the school year so as to update our end-of-year School Improvement Plan.
Teacher Working Conditions Survey - ALL Certified Staff
Thank you for the feedback and we look forward to reviewing that as an administrative team, then with SIT, and then with the entire staff.
iReady Progress and Review
Shout-out to Anna Wilkson - 95% of her students are getting 45 minutes or more each week for the last 4 weeks.
Shout-Out to Heather Berger - 85% of her students are getting 45 minutes or more each week for the last 4 weeks.
Shout-Out to Erin Espinoza - 85% of her students got 45 minutes or more last week in iReady.
Behavior Expectations
A few of the school-wide expectations that I would like to reiterate here are as follows:
1) Level 0 in the hallways
2) Level 0 when the music is playing in the cafeteria
3) Walk to throw away trash in the cafeteria
4) Monitor students lining up in the cafeteria both at entry and exit in the cafeteria
5) Clean and organized classrooms
6) Uniforms for all students
7) Hoods/hats off in the buildings/classrooms
8) Use of minor/major referral process
9) Communicating to other teachers during a transition if a student is agitated or frustrated so they have a heads up – ALL TEACHERS MUST WALK THEIR CLASS TO THE ENTRANCE OF ALL ENCORE TEACHERS AND ENSURE ANY INFORMATION THE ENCORE TEACHER NEEDS IS COMMUNICATED.
10) Playground safety - students should not be running up slides, going down backward, multiple students at a time should not be going down slides.
These are the major ones that I would like to reiterate here, but are by no means limited to and don’t infer the others are less important. PBIS will be reviewing the behavior matrix this week and any possible modifications made will be explicitly communicated.
Work Orders
We take pride in our campus and want to keep it that way. Please continue to let us know if work orders are needed and to draw attention to the fixes that may need to take place - remember, it takes a village.
STAFF SHOUT-OUTS!
Staff shout-out to Nurse Goalie! She continues to work in full support of our students every need!
Shout-out to Zetta Earnhardt! She enrolled 40 kindergarteners last week!
Shout-out to Mr. Rowe and the 2nd-grade teachers for another well-reviewed 3 Piggy Opera.

School Safety
- Remember, all doors must remain locked but may be open if a room is occupied.
- Please review our lockdown and blackout procedures.
- If we were to ever have an unscheduled Fire Alarm pull, please be aware of your surroundings and use your senses. If something feels off, listen to your instinct and make the best call your instincts and professional judgment allow you to make.
