Please help out our Science Olympiad Coaches!

Mrs. Walsh and Mrs. Stathos, who run our middle school Science Olympiad team, will be making a presentation at the RESA STEM conference in March. The title of their talk is "Academic Teams as a Means of Enhancing School Climate." They are collecting data about parents' perceptions of our Academic Teams and how much of a role our Academic Teams played in their decision to send their child to FSA. Please fill out this survey here. They really value your input!

Valentine's Day Celebration

Don't forget to be working on your child's valentine shoebox! Make sure to have a hole cut out for the valentines, and wrap and decorate it. I'm putting some images of boxes for fun examples! Class lists for both classes went home yesterday. We are exchanging with our class and Ms. Selstad's class. Please have all valentines and your child's decorated shoebox brought in by Friday, February 12th!

A Peek at Next Week..

Reading/Language Arts: We will be exploring the theme of stories and visualizing them, writing invitations, adding endings, adjectives for colors and shapes, and vowel digraph -es.

Spelling Words: eat, sea, each, team, please, dream, treat, beach, clean, lean, colors, draw, drew, great, over, show, sign

Science: We will be investigating how magnets work! We will get to see how the attract and repel, and how certain objects (hands, paper, etc.) cannot block the magnetic pole.

Social Studies: We will begin to discuss culture and how they are alike and different.

Character Education: We will begin discussing our new character word of the month: citizenship. A new challenge for the month of February went home today!

School-Wide February Plank Challenge!

Ms. Shadburn has challenged all of FSAPS to a plank challenge! We are taking time each day in class to build our stamina in holding a plank. By the end of the month, we will be holding a plank for two and a half minutes! We're working to be the "Most Fit Class at FSA!" Our kids have LOVED it!

We're using the schedule below as a template. We started day one yesterday, and we're using the weekends as rest days. We will be going through Day 20 on the sheet because we're only doing school days. Feel free to try out the challenge on your own at home!
