Bellevue Public Schools: On the Road to 1:1

It’s an exciting time in Bellevue Public Schools as the school board approved the purchase of 3500 devices that will be making their way into the hands of students and teachers in the coming years. All teachers will be receiving a new 13” MacBook Air before the summer break. In addition, teachers that have been through Apple Foundations Training will receive a two day refresher course and a classroom set of iPads during the 2017-2018 school year. Over the next four years, our district will be implementing a 1:1 rollout in a methodical way that will start by providing every teacher in the district 40 hours of Apple Foundations Training. In addition to the training, teachers will receive classroom coaching to support them and their students when it comes to integrating technology into their classrooms. These are exciting times for students, staff, and the community as the district leverages the power of blended learning.

Leading the Way - Blended Learning in BPS

Over 60 educators from more than 20 districts in our state visited our iPad Academy last week. They had the opportunity to witness how blended learning is transforming teaching and learning throughout in our classrooms. They were impressed with the district’s focus on professional development, the classroom coaching, the engagement level of students, and the unique culture that is being established throughout Bellevue Public Schools. Shout outs to all of you who hosted guests in your classrooms and for sharing how you integrate technology into your curriculum.

Hashtags Telling Our Story

One of the most powerful parts of Twitter is the hashtag! It connects people, ideas, and creates communities within Twitter. It is a unique way for our teachers and administrators to share the amazing things happening in our schools, classrooms, clubs, teams and organizations. Our district hashtag, #bpsne, continues to grow and is becoming a powerful tool that we can leverage as a district to connect all of our teachers, students, parents, and community members. We encourage you to continue sharing the great things happening in your classrooms. Here is a list of all of the Bellevue Public School educators on Twitter. Let's create the 2016-2017 Bellevue Public Schools story together!
