Joining & Separating Question Talk Card
Math: Make Ten (card game) - Partner Game
Materials: one deck of cards without the 10s and face cards
1. Shuffle the deck and place face down.
2. The dealer turns over the top card and places it face up beside the deck. Player 1 turns over the top card from the deck and places it beside the card already facing up and adds the two cards together to see if they equal ten. If they do, Player 1 takes both cards. If not, both cards remain face up. If the previous players took both cards and no cards are face up, the dealer may turn over one card.
3. Player 2 takes the top card from the deck and turns it over, then places it beside the face up card and adds them together to see if they make ten. The game continues with each player trying to find ten facts. The game ends when the stack of cards have been used. There may be many cards face up until a player finds a match to make ten.

I can identify characters in a story and the reasons for their actions and feelings.

They should be practicing reading and writing their sight words.
Continue to listen and sing along with the phonics and sight word songs.
Writing
I can write a personal narrative / small moment story. (Hook the reader)
This week we will be using our plan (circle map) from last week, of a SMALL MOMENT, and we will begin our story, writing across pages. A personal narrative story includes a beginning, a middle, and an end. Each of these can be done on a separate page with details added to each page to make the story better. We call this writing across pages. Our end goal is to have several personal narrative stories written and published so if your child is ready….let them keep writing. Writing paper is attached, but you may use any paper for writing that you choose.
Before writing, have your child : 1. Picture the moment they are writing about in their head, 2. Tell the details of the moment out loud, 3. Last start their writing on paper. It is ok to have one sentence per page and then go back and add details to each. ( a beginning page, a middle page, and an ending page)
Watch the youtube video: Writing a Personal Narrative: Writing a Draft for Kids (episode four) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y_fxQ_52pk
Using your circle map from last week, let’s start our story.
The first page of the story should HOOK the reader and make them want to read your story. You could start with a question, a feeling, or even a sound. Have your child write their first page. If ready- they can continue with the middle and end.
Writing Paper: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1I90BSOfYsbekeAiPZWm-m7ae3lFC5WSI/view?usp=sharing
Don’t forget to add an illustration to the page to match your writing. (label your illustration)
Also create a cover to your story that includes the title, author, and a fun illustration that shows what the story is about.
Optional: Adjective review- Draw a fun monster and label him or her with adjectives that describe it. There is a printable page attached or you can use your own paper. Be creative and have fun! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kSGnUvxa4rIkXCy16Fg7Jilw9uyQfpcl/view?usp=sharing
