World Read Aloud Day
Spark the FIRE of Literacy. Read Aloud. Change the World.
Wednesday, March 4, 2015
World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words and creates a community of readers taking action to show the world that the right to literacy belongs to all people. Now celebrated by over one million people in more than 80 countries and reaches over 31 million people online, this day shows the world’s children that we support their futures: that they have the right to read, to write, and to share their stories.

Ideas for Celebrating World Read Aloud Day
Need some ideas.....try one or more of these:
- Invite parents, grandparents, aunts, and or uncles to come in as "Mystery" Readers.
- Switch classrooms with another teacher (maybe at a different grade level) and read your favorite picture book aloud.
- Have each student pick a picture book and visit another grade level for some Buddy Reading.
- Ask students to bring in a favorite picture book from when they were little to share with the class.
- Create a class display of favorite read alouds.
- Prepare a Reader's Theater to share with another class.
