Teamwork Is Happening in Art 6
Student Centered Learning Experiences Through Art
Students Take Charge of Their Classroom Lesson
The first unit of study allows students to collaborate in Art 6. A team sculpture made of paper cubes is generated to convey that "We Support Each Other At Ballston Spa Middle School". Students work together to brainstorm, plan, vote and create their final art piece. This activity supports "No Place for Hate" initiative and our positive classroom environment.
Brainstorming Session
Smaller teams work on an idea to support our theme.
Sharing and Final Vote
Students actively listen as teams share their ideas to make a final choice on the display.
Volunteers Generate Display
Students work from the chosen sculpture design as they hang the final piece in the school hallway.
Visual Art Communicates A Supportive Message
Ballston Spa Middle School "We Support One Another" Team Sculpture Display
The final team sculpture is on display for several weeks in our Middle School. Each quarter, a new work is chosen by Art 6 students during their team collaboration lesson.
Mrs. Guernsey's Grade 6 Art Classes
Student centered learning allows for a fun and inspiring learning experience. It has been my pleasure to oversee my grade 6 Art classes as they collaborate and show respect to reach their common goal.
