A Weekly Look at Grant Elementary School & the Grant PTA

Week of September 16, 2019

A Message from Principal Grey

Dear Grant Community,

Dear Grant Community,

This Wednesday Grant will hold its first Committee TIDE meeting (Teaching Inclusion, Diversity and Equity) from 6:00-7: 00 pm in the school library. As we continually work to create the most inclusive environment possible for our school community, we are excited to engage in a dialogue that brings many perspectives and ideas to the table. Please join us to begin this important conversation that will guide our committee's vision and action items for the school year. Your voice is important and I look forward to hearing it.

Wednesday, September 18th
6:00-7:00 pm in the Grant Library
Light refreshments and childcare will be provided

Thank you,
Ms. Grey

You don't have to be a PTA member to attend, but you do have to be a member to vote. You also get access to the school directory. Please consider joining - you can even do it online right now and it's so easy! Create an account and then buy a membership here:

Say Cheese! Picture Days, 9/19 & 9/20

This year Grant is going to use a wonderful new school picture company called Mugsy Clicks. This Marin based company will be taking photos of our Grant students on 9/19 and 9/20 and your child's teacher will let you know which one is your picture day. There are some great tips on the website that might help you prepare.

Mugsyclicks allows you to view several different portraits of your student online after your photo day and choose the ones you like best. No more buying a pricey package before you see the picture! Pick the shot you like the best and order packages of photos right off of their website.

Author Raffle

Copperfield's bookstore is amazing at bringing children's authors to our town. This October they will be hosting Tui Sutherland (Wings of Fire Series) and Dav Pilkey (Captain Underpants and Dog Man Series). Since both of these authors are favorites of Grant School students I have decided to raffle off 2 tickets to each visit. Both tickets come with a free book! If your child is interested in entering either or both of the raffles, remind him/her to come to sign up for it on Wednesdays lunch recess in the library. These visits are a great opportunity for all. Thank you.

International Day Survey

In preparation for International Day coming up on October 4th, the committee would like to know where our Grant families come from. This information will be used to map where our families come from and plan activities around as many places possible that are important to our community. Please fill out the optional questions below by September 17th to help us prepare for our evening event and look for the digital invitation with more information coming next week.
