A Message from the Principals
Hello Millbridge Families,
Over the past two weeks as we have transitioned to fully remote learning, many of our families took advantage of the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher who explained the schedule for remote learning. The remote instructional plan was designed by teams of Millbridge educators. We factored in the feedback received from our families and current instructional data. In the survey, parents and guardians indicated an almost split preference between live instruction and videos. We also remained cognizant that a number of families, for various reasons, need to complete school work in the evenings and over the weekends.
The Millbridge schedules were designed to provide families with as much flexibility as possible with a focus on minimizing screen time and implementing developmentally appropriate practices. Parents are encouraged to utilize the list view in Canvas which shows clearly all of the times students should be logged onto the computer for live instruction. Since our curricular programs rely on small groups and 1:1 instruction and we have found this to be the most effective when working with our youngest learners remotely, our students' schedules were designed to promote these practices. The Millbridge teachers and administration will continue to evaluate the schedule and instructional programs throughout the remote learning period.
If you have questions about your child’s individual schedule, please contact his or her teacher via email or through the Canvas inbox.
Finally, we would like to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. Although this was not the way any of us would have envisioned this year, we are grateful to be able to be a part of your child's educational journey. Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday.
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Lowe and Mrs. Murphy
