Your child can read books, magazines, newspapers, or comic books. Reading for homework or a class assignment does NOT count. Late entries will NOT be accepted. It is important to note, that tickets cannot be replaced if lost, stolen, or damaged.
Choir
The Combined GM/Choir course increased the number of students performing on stage, therefore, we will be putting on separate concerts by grade level instead of the combined performance like last year.
The concerts will take place in the Pewaukee High School Auditorium. Students are to give their coats to their parents and go directly into the High School Auditorium where we will warm up. When finished, the doors will be opened and parents will be ushered into the auditorium.
Concert Attire:
- Girls will wear a black skirt, dress pants, leggings and an all white blouse, top, or sweater. No high heels please.
- Boys will wear black pants (Dockers, Sonoma, etc.) and a white shirt (polo, sweater, button down).
Holiday Writing Contest
- An Essay (paragraph form - no minimum or maximum paragraph guidelines)
- A Poem (any form - acrostic, rhyming, free form, haiku, etc.)
- Inspired by holiday music? Write your own song lyrics with a repeating chorus.
- A Memoir or Personal Narrative (A memoir is a collection of short personal stories that have a common theme or life lesson.)
- A Fictional Writing Piece with Personification - Take on the position of a non-human winter icon and write a story from their point of view (examples: a snowman, snowflake, holiday cookie, Santa’s reindeer, angel atop a Christmas tree, etc.)
Here is a link to the requirements.
Language Arts
In writing, we began our poetry unit and our focus is on the many forms of figurative language: alliteration, similes, metaphors, and onomatopoeia are just a few. We will also be writing poems using the many formats that poets use in order to create our own repertoire of poetry.
Our "Presidential Ball" has been fantastic! Your child has worked hard on this project and the results have been outstanding! I could not be more proud of their success and accomplishments as writers and performers.
