The Groves Grapevine
Building the future, one student at a time! 01/12/22
Our Groves families help our Gators THRIVE by building connections!
At Groves, we want to empower our students to influence the world in a positive way. Build a connection to our mission statement for your child this holiday weekend with one or more of the top 5 popular quotes by King:
1. "The time is always right to do what is right."
2. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
3. "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear."
4. "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"
5. "Forgiveness is not an occasional act; it is a constant attitude."
District COVID information from Nurse Ashley
Please report all possible symptoms of Covid on the below link. Refer to the above picture these symptoms if you are unsure.
- While some policies have changed, there is still a ten-day quarantine for all students who test positive for COVID.
- At this time, Wylie does not accept negative home tests for an early return to school activities.
- While we no longer require quarantine for students who have had an in-home exposure, we still recommend one – if you choose to quarantine your child under these circumstances, you will fill out the below link so their absences will not count against them. This link includes information to request Remote Conferencing. Once processed (which takes 1-4 days), you will receive a phone call and/or email with information about participation in Remote Conferencing. Any chromebooks or paperwork will then be able to be picked up at Groves.

**If your student is sent home with symptoms of COVID, or begin experiencing those symptoms at home please fill out the health survey. https://forms.wylieisd.net/Forms/COVIDReporting Students with symptoms of COVID may not return to campus for ten days after the start of symptoms, unless you provide a negative test or an alternate diagnosis. At this time, Wylie does NOT accept negative home tests for an early return.
Girl Scouts are coming to Groves!
Groves Crossing Guard
Dear Gator Families,
We regret to inform you that our wonderful crossing guard Debbie, has cancer. Next week she will begin her treatment and will be off duty for some time. If you or your student would like to send her a card, letter of encouragement, or draw her a picture there will be a box in the front office, starting this Tuesday. The box will stay there for a couple of weeks and PTA will drop off these letters to Debbie. We also have started a Meal train. If you are interested in making a meal for Debbie please sign up below. Please drop off the meal by 2:45 on your chosen day. Please text us at 310-619-6519 (Sadie) or 713-301-8992 (Sara) to let us know you have dropped off the meal.

Counselor's Corner
Do you have a child with anxiety and wonder what you can do?
Don’t try to protect your child from anxiety. If your child expresses anxiety or fear about certain activities, don’t avoid those feelings. Respect that your child’s feelings are real and let them know that they can face this fear with you by their side to help. You can build confidence by saying, “I know this is hard, but I also know you will be able to handle this situation or whatever happens.” This approach teaches a child to have confidence they can overcome their fears. If you create an atmosphere where they never have to face anxious situations, they will never learn to have faith in their ability to handle things on their own.
