What is an opaque?
An opaque object is an object that light cannot pass through. The light is either reflected, scattered or obsorbed. The light is converted to thermal energy.
How can a substance be described as opaque?
The only way a substance can be described as opaque is if its transparent. Transparency occurs because of the transmission of light waves through bulk of an object.
