Full Moon Week!
There was something special in the air today! Not sure if it was the warmer weather, the incoming rain, the holiday on the weekend, or the full moon. Students, staff and the main office were very busy today and are looking forward to the 3-day weekend.
Our 5th Graders have completed three of their four required M-STEP tests. They have two more days of testing next week and then they are finished. Students who needed more time to finish a previous test, or missed a testing date, will have time to complete their tests over the next 2 weeks.
We were fortunate enough to miss the raindrops today and be able to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. Please remind your child to stay out of the wet, puddle areas. We announce these reminders several times each week, telling students to stay out of the wet areas and play in the areas with wood chips and on the higher grassy areas that are not wet. This does not stop students from going into the water and getting their clothes/shoes wet, even when lunch monitors blow a whistle or call out to stay out of the water.
Students are also climbing the trees along the fence lines. Students have been given reminders during morning and lunch time announcements to stay off of the trees and fence around the playground. Please remind your child to climb on the designated climbing structures and not the fence.
Some families are traveling over the weekend and we wish them safe travels. Hope the weather cooperates over the weekend so we can start to enjoy the warmer, spring weather outside.
Have a great week!

Student Pick Up from After-School Activities
All after-school activities should have a designated pick up location, usually outside of Door 7. A representative from the after-school activity should know the pick up location and escort students to that location for dismissal. The representative/teacher can also share with parents in the program how pick up procedures will work. (e.g. floor hockey will dismiss out the main door when Mr. Hall escorts kids to the doors).
Please note that our SACC workers are NOT permitted by UCS and State of Michigan rules to admit persons who are not associated with SACC. This does not prevent parents/students from entering the building on the heals of a SACC parent, however. Parents/students who enter the building without SACC knowledge are asked to leave for student safety.
The Main Office is open until 4:30 PM each day and can open the front door for parents/students as well. If you need to enter the building after school hours, before 4:30 PM, you can give the main office a call at 586-797-5800 and let them know you are at the front door and why you need to enter the building. After 4:30 PM, SACC may not allow non-SACC persons to enter the building.
Please know that while this may seem like an inconvenience, student safety is a priority and we will continue to do all that we can to ensure student safety during after-school events/activities. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Morgan Lunch Monitors
Morgan continues to look for additional support during the lunch hour. While our building is allocated a certain amount of paid EduStaff lunch monitors, we can take additional support in the form of volunteers. Students really enjoying seeing their parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle at school during the lunch time helping in the lunchroom or walking around the playground with the kids.
If you are interested in becoming a paid lunch monitor, please click on link below to start an application with EduStaff. EduStaff certified lunch monitors are paid an hourly rate each day they work. EduStaff employees can also complete additional, free, online training sessions and become substitute paraprofessionals for additional paid hours of work.
Morgan also takes volunteers with a current background check on file. If you filled out a Volunteer Sheet within the past few years, you should be able to volunteer for field trips, classroom help and lunch supervision. If you are unsure about your volunteer status, please contact the Main Office and Sharon or Melissa can check for you: 586-797-5800.
If you are interested in volunteering during the lunch hour, which runs from 11:30 AM until 12:15 PM each day, please contact Melissa in the main office and let her know what days you are available to volunteer. Grandparents/aunts/uncles/neighbors are all welcome once we have a background check on file.
If you have any questions, please call Morgan at 586-797-5800 or email Mrs. Lasky at sue.lasky@uticak12.org.
