Nearly every desktop and computes in these today contains one or more hard-disk drives. Every mainframe and supercomputer is normally connected to hundreds of them. You can even find VCR-type devices and camcorders that use hard disks instead of tape. These billions of hard disks do one thing well -- they store changing digital information in a relatively permanent form. They give computers the ability to remember things when the power goes out. Most people our amazed that every iPod has its own hard drive and can store over a thousand songs and its is the same size as a pack of cards.

What is RAM?. RAM is Random access memory. But it is best none as RAM or computer memory. It is called RAM because you can access any memory cell from it directly. A computer will often have more than one RAM.

A optical drive is basically a external disk reader. So when do you use an optical drive. You use an optical drive to read a disk from a computer if your computer does not have a disk player (CD PLAYER). An optical drive uses a laser to read and write data. A laser in this context is electromagnetic with a very specific wavelength within.

Monitors our just screens that you connect a portable computer to, a computer or a HDMI cable connected from a laptop will put the laptop screen on the monitor. A monitor is basically a display. Monitors use Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) or Cathode Ray Tube (CRT).
