Good morning Spartans,

I hope you all had a restful weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day! Today we kick off the last fourteen days of the year. I encourage all of our students to make the best of the limited time left in the school year. Do the best you can in all of your classes, attend tutoring if you need extra help and make sure you show up to class on time every day. Give yourself the opportunity to be successful!

This week we will be hosting our Future Spartan Day. If you have or know of any incoming 9th grade students, please share the information in the flyer below. The event will be held at the CVH big lawn area this Thursday May 18th from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Hope to see you there!

The following Chula Vista High School Spartans have been awarded the prestigious Gates Scholarship, which will provide funding for undergraduate to graduate programs. The applicant pool was 51,000 Nationwide and only 750 were named as scholar recipients. The program will start in Florida at Disney World this Summer. The Gates scholarship will provide opportunities for Tiffany and Edvar to access, such as a network of professionals and former Gates scholars.

Tiffany Tapia Miranda- Attending Johns Hopkins University in the Fall of 2023. Majoring in Neuroscience. Graduating from Chula Vista High School May 31st 2023. Future plans are to attend Johns Hopkins Medical school and become an Anesthesiologist. Tiffany has received many awards as a senior at CVHS. In addition, Tiffany has been a Quest-bridge Scholar, Delta Foundation Scholarship, CSF award finalist, Chula Vista Rotary Award and Chula Vista Elks club teen of the month.

Edvar Bautista- Attending Caltech in the Fall of 2023. Majoring in Mechanical Engineering/Business, Economics and Management. Graduating from Chula Vista High School May 31st2023. Future plans are to work in a robotics field combined with Aerospace Engineering. In addition, Edvar has been a Quest-bridge Scholar matched with Caltech. Dell Foundation Scholarship, Hispanic Youth Awards Engineering Scholarship. Kyoto Prize Scholarship Second Place Scholarship.

Tiffany and Edvar were two out of three students in the Sweetwater Union High School District that received this honor, Southwest High had one recipient.

Congratulations to Natalie Solorio and Jason Ortiz for being recognized for their academic and athletic achievements by the San Diego High School Sports Association.

Congratulations to CVH Senior Azul Díaz for being recognized by US Figure Skating for her Gold Level Achievement in the Class of 2023 Graduating Seniors Program. Go Spartans!

Our mission at the Parent Center is to be your partners in parenting! We offer many services at the Parent Center such as emergency shelter and food referrals, we have a food pantry and clothes closet open to the community, we assist with job training and referrals, and offer FREE parent workshops throughout the year. We welcome all who are interested to become volunteers here at the Parent Center, stop by to get a packet! Walk-ins are welcome, or call us at 619-476-3396.

Spartan Students we invite you to join Chula Vista High School's After School Programs! All programs are available for FREE! You can also stop by and have some fun at the Vault located in the Youth Center. The Vault has pool, air hockey, foosball, PS4, Switch, arcade games and more!!!!! **EVERYTHING IS FREE!!!!!!!**

Our morning hours will be from 7:15-8:15 AM (students will need to enter through Youth Center entrance at 465 L Street).

Our afternoon hours will be from 3:39-5:30 PM every day. We are also open during 7th/8th period for those students who are unscheduled.
