Produce of the MonthAsparagus! In an effort to introduce students to locally grown fruits and vegetables we have partnered with our Food and Nutrition Department (FANS) to identify a piece of produce that is common to South Carolina for that month. Ms. Produce reads a book and talks with our students about the produce of the month and serves that item as often as possible throughout the month. We have tried peaches, tomatoes, zucchini, apples, sweet potatoes, kale, cabbage, and collard greens so far! In April we will try asparagus! Feel free to ask your child about the produce of the month and how they liked it. | Manner of the MonthExcuse Me Each month of the school year, we will highlight and focus on a different "manner" with all children. So far we have practiced saying Please and Thank You, taking turns, answering a question when asked, apologizing, sharing, and covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze. In April we will practice saying, "Excuse me." It is very important for school and home to join together in teaching social skills to our children. PLEASE consider practicing our manner of the month with your child. THANK YOU! | Wednesday Spirit Days Every Wednesday we dress according to a theme for the month. In an effort to bond with our school and create a sense of unity, we all wear the same color or something related to a theme on Wednesdays. The children love to see their teachers and classmates wearing similar shirts for the day. In April we will wear nice spring colors like yellow, purple, or pink. |
