Central Elementary Staff News---November 27-December 2
Kindness
Dear Staff,
Welcome back from break. Hopefully, you had some time to relax and enjoy just "being" without a school-related to do list.
This year, we are going to continue a Central Elementary December tradition in conjunction with the value of the month and create our Kindness Chain. For those of you who are new, each year Mrs. White, through the Central Character Company, creates a paper chain of kindness which travels down the hallway leading to the cafeteria. It is wonderful to see that each slip of paper represents a child's thoughtfulness. Our students really enjoy this activity and you can feel the positive climate.
With the release of the movie Wonder this activity seems even more timely this year for our students. Below is an article highlighting positive quotes from the movie, which your students may enjoy hearing you share and even journal as they reflect.
Have a super week!
Julie

K-9 Unit-Jocko is the newest member of the Plainfield police department. Officer Pritchett may stop in sometime to have him walk the halls to become familiar with our building. He does not need to come in the classroom, but you are welcome to invite him into the room. Just making you aware so you can mention to students. He is a very calm dog.
Sub Request from Nicole Crum – It's that time of year when illness is creeping in and the holidays are coming fast. Please check your calendars today and let me know of any days off you may need this month or in December. Remember, that we do share subs with PCMS and PHS.

Helping the Unmotivated Student
If you have a student who you have trouble motivating, I encourage you to read the article below is the first paragraph.....
When I ask teachers what their biggest struggles are, one issue comes up on a regular basis: student motivation. You are able to reach many of your students, but others are unreachable. No matter what you try, they have no interest in learning, no interest in doing quality work, and you are out of ideas. (click below for more)
