WBMS Friday Notes
April 14-18
Reflections from Ms. Perkins
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
We made it through the first week of testing and our 8th graders report that they feel confident and comfortable with the English Language Arts and Math portions of the test. Separating out the sections and adding additional testing days seems to have given them the ability to focus and engage with the content successfully. We still have many more weeks of testing, but we are all celebrating a successful first week.
In other news, you may have noticed and wondered about the fenced off area with dumpsters and construction equipment next to the school. Yes – we are getting a much needed facelift at WBMS! The crew started during Spring Break and come in each night after our students leave and on weekends. So far they have replaced all the toilets, sinks, and water fountains (we even have a fancy water bottle filler on the one in the cafeteria), and they are working on replacing all the hallway lighting and ceiling tiles. Over the summer they will tackle a full media center renovation, classroom flooring, cabinets, an entirely new HAVC system and much more.
As always, there is a lot going on at WBMS! I hope you are able to get outside this weekend and enjoy Spring!
In collaboration,
Rebecca Williams Perkins
Principal, Webb Bridge Middle School

Relay for Life
Our Relay for Life activities continue at WBMS as we raise funds for the American Cancer Society. During the week our school’s student council took orders for an official “Webb Way for a Cure” t-shirt. Our Jr. Beta is preparing a “pick a number” fundraiser with purple stars (color of Relay for Life) where “everyone is a winner” for a $1 donation. Our Media Center is preparing their Reading for Relay program where students will find sponsors who will support and encourage their reading with a donation when they meet their reading goal. Students can register at https://tinyurl.com/ReadForRelay. The Pathways student support program worked on a Relay for Life activity during their meeting this week. And our Webb Bridge FBLA is partnering with the Alpharetta High School chapter of FBLA to sell luminarias. If you would like to dedicate a bag In Memory of, In Support of, or In Honor of someone who has been touched by cancer, access our team website at: https://tinyurl.com/WebbWayForACure. The cost of the bag is $10 each.
With only three weeks to go before the Relay, many members of our staff and students have become involved in this year’s fundraising event. Please mark your calendar for May 11th from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the North Fulton Relay for Life event here at Webb Bridge Middle School. Come for the afternoon, evening, survivor’s walk, luminaria ceremony, or even just an hour and see why WBMS is proud of their participation in this year’s Relay and their Webb Way for a Cure team!
Reading for Relay
If you would like to support cancer research, education, and patient services, join our WBMS Reading for Relay program. You simply find sponsors who want to support the American Cancer Society AND to encourage you to read.
Complete the form at https://tinyurl.com/ReadforRelay with your reading goal and your sponsor’s pledge and then READ!! When you meet your goal (target May 9th), your sponsor donates to our Relay for Life WBMS team at https://tinyurl.com/webbwayforacure .

Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis Foundation
Please help support Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, to raise money for crucial research that will bring us closer to a future free from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (IBD). Over 1.6 million American adults and children are affected by these digestive diseases, and recent research unfortunately indicates the effected population could be nearly 2x that. While many suffer in silence, Take Steps brings this community together in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
Your donation will help fund local patient programs, as well as important research projects that will benefit patients and their families, wherever they reside. This cause is very important to us and we appreciate your help as we fight for cures! In addition to donating, you can join the fun at the walk June 1! There will be food, music and family activities.
Please use this link to join us on Walk day or contribute to our efforts to support CCF in finding a cure!
