OLVCS Updates
September 18, 2020
Did you know?
The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, formerly known as Our Lady of Victory and Feast of the Holy Rosary, is a feast day of the Roman Catholic Church and is celebrated on October 7. It is also the anniversary of the decisive victory of the combined fleet of the Holy League of 1571 over the Ottoman navy at the Battle of Lepanto. We will be celebrating on that day by attending mass, completing service projects, and having a Walk-A-Thon. Please see the announcements for more information about the Walk-A-Thon.
Sincerely,
Chad Packer, MEd
Principal, OLVCS
Prayer to Our Lady for Comfort
This prayer was shared with me. It is from Pope Francis to help us find comfort in these difficult times.
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Amen.

While on Tuesday, September 15th the Crusaders were primarily on the defensive for the first half, in the second half they powered up their offense against the Bald Eagle Area Middle School team. Unfortunately, it was not enough. The Crusaders fell to the Eagles, 0-1.
A rematch is scheduled for this coming Monday, September 21st at 3:30PM at Orchard Park (OLVCS home field).

Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy Highlights
Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Celebrates 10 Years!
As recently highlighted in The Centre County Gazette, family is at the heart of the SJCA’s community. SJCA is more than a high school…it’s a place where faculty and staff are humbled watching students embrace and live Christian values in school, in the local community, and when they graduate and become Saint Joe’s alumni. It is hard to believe the school is already celebrating its 10 year anniversary.
