Which section is for you?
SECTIONS FOR THREE DAY EVENTS - SIX ROUNDS
These are held over a Bank Holiday Weekend. There are three sections, a FIDE Open (with a British Championship Qualifying Place), a FIDE Under 1900 (or ECF 160 if you don't have a standard FIDE rating already) and an Under 135 ECF graded section.
SECTIONS FOR TWO DAY EVENTS - FIVE ROUNDS
There are three sections, a FIDE Under 2200 (or ECF 200 if you don't have a standard FIDE rating already), a FIDE Under 1900 (or ECF 160 if you don't have a standard FIDE rating already) and an Under 135 ECF graded section.
All the games are graded by the ECF and part of the ECF Grand Prix. FIDE SECTIONS are also rated by FIDE in their standard list, and all participants have to be a member of the ECF (GOLD or above) to take part in ANY section. Ring 01424 775222 to join or visit http://www.englishchess.org.uk/.
Round Times
The venue will be open approximately 9.30am each day.
TIME CONTROL (all tournaments)
Digital clocks and Fischer / cumulative time controls will be used. All moves in 90 minutes per player PLUS 30 seconds per move (roughly a 4.0 hour session).
Exceptionally, where digital clocks are not available we will use the time control of all the moves in 120 minutes per player.
Saturday
(1) 10.30am to approx. 2.30pm
(2) 3.00pm to approx. 7.00pm
Sunday
(3) 10.30am to approx. 2.30pm
(4) 3.00pm to approx. 7.00pm
Bank Holiday Monday
(5) 10.30am to approx. 2.30pm
(6) 3.00pm to approx. 7.00pm

PRIZES
GUARANTEED PRIZES IN FIDE SECTIONS
1st £200, 2nd £100 - these prizes will be shared in the event of a tie.
There will be one rating prize of £80.00 in each FIDE section, the rating band for which will be announced before the start of round two, based on the ratings of the players entered. Ties (if necessary) for rating prizes will be broken by a method approved by FIDE which will be announced before the start of round two.
Prizes in the Under 120 section will be based on entries and announced before the start of round two.

We reserve the right to refuse entry or to transfer players between sections. In the event of a dispute, the organisers decision is final. Travel advice, round times, full rules and conditions of entry can be found at our website.
