SENIOR WEEK
Class of 2019
A Letter from Principal Talbot
Dear Parents of the Class of 2019,
As we all eagerly await Saturday’s Graduation Day, there are a few important Senior Events happening this week. All of these events are meant to be memorable moments as your children wrap up their great careers with Pembroke Public Schools. We hope all of you will join us in celebrating this great Class throughout the week and help us reinforce the same behavioral standards that our students have always maintained. These are, after all, school-sponsored events, and all rules found within our student handbook apply.
Tuesday, May 28 – Senior Dinner Dance
o At Pembroke Country Club from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
o Dress is business attire (although dress shorts and collared shirts are appropriate for boys)
o Students will drive themselves to this event – no bus transportation
o Students should be at PCC by 6:45 p.m. and must stay until at least 8:45 p.m. (although we hope that they stay until the end).
o Yearbooks will be distributed after dinner
Wednesday, May 29 – A Very Busy Day
1.) Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal (8-11 a.m.)
· Seniors, please arrive by 7:45 a.m. in the PHS Cafeteria
· Use the Student (side) Lot for parking
· This event is mandatory for students that are planning on participating on June 1
2.) Cap and Gown Distribution (11 -11.30 a.m.)
· Please be sure all obligations are paid
· Mrs. Logan has all obligation information, and signs were posted in the cafeteria all last week during exams
3.) Senior BBQ
· On the PHS side fields
· Usual BBQ offerings and field day events/games
· This event is not mandatory, but we hope all will join us.
4.) Baccalaureate
· 7 p.m. in the PHS Auditorium
· Also not a mandatory event
Thursday, May 30
1.) Senior Walk – all seniors visit all three elementary schools and PCMS to be recognized by teachers and students
· If participating, please arrive at PHS by 8:45 a.m.
· Use the Student (side) Lot for parking
· Buses to the three elementary schools depart at 9 a.m.
· Seniors should be in their Caps and Gowns for the walk
2.) Senior Awards Night
· PHS Auditorium at 6:30 p.m.
· Not mandatory but all seniors are invited
· Students receiving an award/scholarship received a pink notice with their invitation.
Saturday, June 1 – Graduation!
· Students must arrive by 8:45 a.m. in the PHS Cafeteria
· Students park in the Student (side) lot
· Pembroke police officers will be guiding parking for parents and guests, using the
student lot, the faculty lot, Hobomock Elementary, and our grass practice fields (if necessary.)
· All students receive four (4) tickets with Caps and Gowns
o If outside, the four tickets are for field seats. However, students are allowed unlimited guests if outside, as the bleachers are used for open seating.
o If inside, the four tickets are for gymnasium seating. Unfortunately, this is a hard cap set on the number of tickets per student. Overflow seating will be provided in the auditorium and cafeteria for TV viewing.
o Handicapped parking/seating is available. Please contact the high school main office.
Finally, and on a personal note, I will not be at our Graduation Ceremony this year. My daughter, Kayla, will be graduating from Braintree High School at the exact same time on Saturday. While I’m devastated to be missing this event, I hope that, as parents, you’ll understand why I will have to give my farewell remarks to the amazing Class of 2019 during graduation rehearsal and Senior Awards Night.
Thank you, again, for your support. We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2019 in a safe and responsible manner.
Kind Regards,
Marc Talbot, Principal
