Media Center News November 2016
Check out what's happening in the NMES Media Center!
Welcome
Welcome to the newsletter for the NMES Media Center! Read below for information and updates on media center programs and lessons. If you have any questions or need more information, please email Mrs. Siderius, our media specialist, at jennifer.siderius@fcps.org.
Lego Wall
Our Lego Wall is up! Thanks to Mr. Roy, our wonderful custodian, for hanging it! Students have been enjoying practicing their engineering skills and showing their creativity during centers each week!
American Education Week
For American Education Week, the media center hosted a Librarian for the Day contest! Students could apply online to be the librarian for their class and tell Mrs. Siderius why they would make a great librarian. This winner had a great time helping classmates find books and use the green screen wall!
STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math
Wow! What fun we have applying STEAM concepts in media center lessons, like building square pumpkins for Spookley the Square Pumpkin, or practicing our coding skills with a human robot game. We love STEAM!
Hour of Code Week
Hour of Code week is December 5th-11th! To celebrate, all students at NMES will have coding lessons in the media center throughout the entire month of December! We'll be using a Code-a-Pillar, BeeBots, Ozobots, OSMO Coding, The Foos app, and more to learn how code, practice our sequencing skills, and show creativity! To learn more about Hour of Code week, visit this website!
