A Message From Dr. Ricks
Dear Parents,
I know your children enjoyed the ice/snow days, and I hope you did as well. I know that all of us were glad to get back to school and get back in a routine, and now we might be facing another weather day. Although I do not believe we need to make up the days at this point, we really cannot afford to miss any more days; should another weather day be necessary, we will consider ways to make it up.
I am so proud of all of our 6th and 8th graders who placed at the Regional Science Fair. Congratulations to Maisy Liles, Laura Lyne Fincher, and Austin Slusher who placed 1st Overall, 2nd Overall, and 3rd Overall respectively. Our 5th and 7th graders will compete in the Regional Social Studies Fair in a couple of weeks, and I know that they are looking forward to their time to shine.
Our 2nd graders are working hard on their Biography Day presentations, and 4th grade has started the infamous Medieval Unit...two great Grace School traditions that continue to set our students apart.
Gala, Gala, Gala! Over the next several weeks, you will hear lots—I repeat, lots—about Gala. Please remember that Gala is our primary fundraiser and helps support our school in the purchase of technology, curriculum, and other supplies for our students. In addition to raising money, Gala builds up our “social capital” and provides opportunities for parents to get to know each other through the preparations and the event itself. The committee has some exciting changes in store for us this year. Please plan to attend on April 17th and support the Gala however you can. Remember that it is all for our children!
Warmly,
Dr. Beth J. Ricks
Our 2015 Gator Gala Committee is hard at work planning an unforgettable evening of food, fun, gator-tini's, and auction items. Many thanks to Co-Chairs Breanna Young and Amanda Wooton, Live Auction Chair Erica Ryan, and Silent Auction Chair Kelli Cole.
Local band favorite, Flashback5 will be "Rocking the Night Away" with our favorite music .
Our Live and Silent Auction Items will include art projects created by Grace students, kid's parties, trips, and other special packages. Look forward to more information from us as you will be able to bid on many of these items from Clickbid.com. Many thanks to the fabulous donations made from local businesses, individuals, and Grace supporters who are helping to make our Silent Auction a success.
Katie Moreland and Erin Weaver are bringing back one of our most popular raffles. For $25.00, you have a chance at either $4,000 cash or a $5000.00 travel voucher from The Travel Company. Tickets can be purchased from Grace students, families, as well as the school. The drawing will take place the night of the Gala; you do not need to be present to win.
Sabrina Racer and Dana deGravelle will help you secure your Gator Gala Sponsorship for one of three levels: Gator Proud, Rising Gator, and Gator Tails. Sponsorship includes a reserved table and a fun party package.
We look forward to seeing you at this fun, fabulous, and unforgettable event celebrating 60 years of Grace Episcopal School.
