Banyan Yearbook Sales

The Banyan 2019-2020 Yearbook is for sale for $40. The deadline for purchasing a yearbook is April 1st. 5th grade dedications are also available for purchase for $10. Please click on here to purchase.

Spring Book Fair in the Library Fri 2/28 - Fri 3/6

Mrs. Nelson's Book Fair will once again be bringing a great selection of books for your shopping and reading pleasure from Friday, February 28 - Friday, March 6. Students in grades 2-5 may visit the book fair at recess times after lunch or after school. K/1 students may shop (only with parent) after school (1:30 for Kinder). The Book Fair will be open until 5 pm Tuesday, March 3 (election day), and also on Thursday evening from 5:15 - 7:30 during Family Reading Night. On Friday, March 6, the Book Fair will be open from 8:30 - 10:30 for last minute shopping. Please come and support the Banyan Library.

Family Reading Night, Thurs 3/5

Thursday, March 5 at 6 pm is Family Reading Night at Banyan. This is an evening of fun for students, siblings, and parents during the 21st annual Read Across America celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. Please see the rsvp form below for more details.

Spring Forward, Sun 3/8

Don't forget that we set our clocks ahead one hour on Sunday, March 8 at 2 am.

5th Grade Fulcrum Field Trip, Tues. 3/10

On Tuesday, March 10 our 5th graders will be going to Valley Trails Ranch in Castaic as part of our 5th grade social competency skills building program, "Stand Proud". Students will be returning to Banyan at 4 pm that day so all 5th grade parents will have to make special arrangements to pick their students (even students who normally ride the bus) up late from the Banyan parking lot.

Banyan Family Outing Country Harvest and Coaches Ice Cream, Wed 3/11

Enjoy a meal with your family and friends at Country Harvest and go to Coaches Ice Cream for dessert on Wednesday, March 11. Inform the restaurant that you are affiliated with Banyan Elementary, and a portion of each check will be contributed toward Banyan's enrichment programs.

5th Grade "13 Colonies" Play Performance, Thurs 3/12

On Thursday, March 12 at 7:00 pm the Banyan 5th graders will be performing "13 Colonies", a play about early American History for parents and family in the MPR.

No School Mon 3/16

There is no school for students on Monday, March 16. It is a staff development day.

PTA General Assembly Meeting, Thurs 3/19

Please come to the PTA General Assembly Meeting on Thursday, March 19 at 8:45 am. Enjoy coffee with the principal and learn about open board positions.

PTA Online Auction, Mon 3/23 - Mon 3/30

Our annual PTA online auction begins Monday, March 23 and will go through Monday, March 30. How would you like to have lunch with your teacher? Do you want a birthday announcement on our marquee? Do you want to have an ice cream party with Mrs. Kennedy? This is the week to place bids on all kinds of Banyan exclusives and fun baskets. Restaurants, experiences, services and more.

All money raised will fund Art & Music!

Operation School Bell, Tues 3/24

The Assistance League of Conejo Valley is sponsoring a clothing program for selected Banyan students on Tuesday, March 24th. Operation School Bell is a nationwide program that provides students with school clothing. Students must have a special certificate and be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. For more information about this program, please contact our school nurse, Kari Gutnik (805)498-6641 x108.

School Site Council, Wed. 3/25

On Wednesday, March 25 at 2:45 pm our School Site Council will meet in the Library.

McDonalds Teacher Night, Wed 3/25

Wedensday, March 25 is Banyan night at McDonald's on Wendy Drive in Newbury Park. Banyan teachers will be behind the counter serving you dinner from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. During this time 25% of all sales (excluding the drive- thru) will go to Banyan PTA. Enjoy a meal out with your family and friends, and a portion of each check will be contributed toward Banyan's enrichment programs.

Picnic on the Grass, Fri. 3/27

Pack a special lunch for yourself and your child, bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic lunch at Banyan on Friday, March 27 from 11:40 - 12:40. All students will be having lunch at the same time. You must sign in at the front of school. Siblings are welcome to join for lunch (however they may not play on the yard after eating). Hope to see you all there!
