The American Industrial Revolution
How It Put a Negative Impact on Society
How It All Began
The Industrial Revolution started in the 1700's in Britain. It eventually moved to America, replacing many hand tools with dangerous machines.
Danger!
Workers in factories were put in a lot of danger. For example, children were forced to go under running machines, known as scavengers. A woman once got her hair caught in a machine and had to get it cut off. Some people even lost body parts due to the dangerous machines, or even worse, their lives.
Poor Factory Conditions
To add on to the suffrage of the workers, they had to inhale the deadly smoke that the machines produced. This gave the workers many sicknesses, along with the diseased animals they had to make into food.
This Is a Reward?
Not only did the factory workers undergo many challenges, but they did not even receive a decent reward for all of the work they have done. An employee could work for 14 hours hard hours and only get payed 30 cents. That payment does not compare to all of the work that worker has put into during that long period of time.
Overall, the cons outweigh the pros in the Industrial Revolutions due to the event that occurred during the period of time. These events include poor factory conditions, little rewards, and the lived of workers being out in danger.
