Adjusting to New Routines
As you've been adjusting to your new routine, the CCESC Wellness Committee was gathering wellness resources to help you stay connected. We know that anxiety levels are high and we are here "virtually" to help you through. For starters, we hope you enjoy this video clip that may bring some needed peace and calm.
Keepin' it Real
Staying calm during a public health emergency isn't easy for anyone. Between the 24/7 news cycle and information changing by the minute, we encourage you to stay informed with the facts. Be sure to rely on reputable sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Jersey Department of Health for the latest guidance about COVID-19. We urge to stay connected with colleagues, family and friends who may be in need. Reaching out by phone, email or text can make a difference in someone's day.
WE ARE CCESC
Stay Connected
"In times of trouble it can be difficult to see beyond the challenges with which we are faced. So, the word for the day is "perspective." For perspective you must step back and see the bigger picture, which is not always easy to do. I started my day by taking 5 minutes to listen to one of my favorite songs. I want to share it with you and ask you to take the time to listen too. Here is the link. It really did help me, and I hope it will help you. Click to watch.
- Daniel Del Vecchio, Superintendent
Stay Focused
"This almost feels like an example of, “Be careful what you wish for, it may come true!” How many of us have complained about always “being on the go” and no time to ourselves? Well now we have that, and I for one, wish I could have my old life back. However, since that’s not happening any time soon, my goal is to make this new normal work for me… and I will!"
- Kathy Richter, Teacher
Stay Informed
"I find myself having to clarify fact vs. fiction with my teenage son who can't distinguish real COVID-19 news from fake news. I'm sure you can relate. As a communications professional, I have been teaching my kids the importance of getting news from the source. He and I have a 2pm standing date when we sit together and watch New Jersey Governor Murphy's press briefing live on tv. This is the life of a #schoolPR mom."
- Lori Perlow, Communications Manager
Stay Strong
"We are in uncharted waters. The unknown is scary and something I always struggle with. I like to be in control and always know what the next step is. Right now, that is simply not possible. I make sure to take deep breaths, move, and laugh every day. We are an amazing team and are here for one another. Remember to reach out for help, an ear, or a giggle. I am quite sure I did something today that could make you laugh. No doubt! We are a family and will get through this together. Thanks for all you do. You are all nothing short of amazing."
- Stacey DiMeo, Director of Special Services
Stay Committed
"It’s amazing to think a virus, that just a few weeks ago was almost unheard of, has now impacted every part of our lives. However, infinitely more amazing and impactful are the CCESC teachers, therapists, school counselors and instructional assistants in the field – who realizing this virus was about to flip all that we do upside-down, and with just hours to prepare, dropped everything to ensure their students had what they needed. Then, literally the next day, opened their laptops and instantly became remote instructors. Their commitment to their students is a source of strength and inspiration for us all. They are truly fulfilling the promise."
- Patti Russo, Supervisor of Instruction
Stay Active
"If you can’t get to the gym or gym class, bring gym class to you. Making sure I move every day is important. Having time to do it with my kids feels like a gift. What started out as an obligation to help my kids with gym class ended up with laughter and a game of leap-frog. I am thankful for the silver linings hidden throughout this process. Let’s find them wherever we can."
- Mary Hartsell, Supervisor of Clinical Programs
