Learning is Always Fun at LMS
November 1, 2019
Dear La Mariposa Families,
October has been a very exciting month and I wanted to give a big thank you to our amazing PTA for all their hard work. We all had a good time dancing in the Dance-A-Thon and as you know, this fundraiser was a huge success. We went over our goal of $50,000 and we are very thankful for the generosity of the families and friends that contributed. It pleases me to know our kids will get to continue enjoying the exciting extra-curricular activities we offer at La Mariposa.
Our parent conferences were a success and parents reported that they were happy with their teachers and are looking forward to the year ahead.
Red Ribbon week was a little shorter than expected because of the fires, but our kids had a great time on "Sports Jersey Day" . The posters were exceptional and I'm looking forward to the pizza party with the poster winners.
I was impressed with the Reflections Art Showcase and very grateful for the time and work Amanda York and the PTA families contributed to make this evening so special. Thank you for everything.
The Dance-A-Thon Assembly was a fun time for all. Kissing a pig was not as terrible as I thought it would be. In fact, Caesar the pig was more mad at me for interrupting his grass eating than I was at him. The kids danced to "The Git Up" and it was adorable.
The Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students celebrated their ABC Bootcamp with a culminating fashion show. This was too cute for words, so I attached a picture.
First Grade: Our first-grade teachers had a very fun Bat Cave themed room this month. I have attached a picture for your enjoyment. They were also treated to an awesome in-house bird field trip. The birds were absolutely beautiful. I hope all of the first grade parents had the opportunity to see the fabulous art showcase for our kids. It was wonderful to see the beautiful artwork our students created and I am grateful our first grade teachers took the time to exhibit it.
Second Grade: Our second-grade team had a Pumpkin Book Character show. The creativity was extraordinary and I have attached a picture for you. They also had a "Glow Party" theme. This was so cool. Our teachers worked hard to make sure our kids had a special day back.
Third Grade: Our third-graders made spooky haunted house stories and fun pumpkin creations in the Makerspace.
Fourth and Fifth Grade: Fourth grade and fifth graders did a super fun Science activity titled "A Witch's Brew Potion Lab." They explored chemical reactions in a spooky-themed room.
Our Standing Ovation certificated employees of the month were Corinne New, Karen Davis, and Jeanette Huntting. These teachers were recognized by a parent for their dedication to our school and students. Thank you for being such wonderful teachers.
Upcoming Events:

Monday, November 11th: Veteran's Day- No School

Best wishes for another great month ahead.
