LAKE WORTH HIGH SCHOOL
Weekly Memo 12/12/2016
MISSION
We will lead all students to be productive citizens.
VISION
Lake Worth High School provides a customized learning experience that values individual growth and achievement.
GOALS
1. During the 2016-2017 school year, LWHS will increase the amount of time students are reading and/or writing in all core classes every day and in all elective courses at least once per week by reviewing walk-through data, student assessments, and student artifacts in PLCs.
2. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 70% of staff will rate school climate and culture questions as favorable (agree and strongly agree) on the annual staff survey.
3. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 20% of students will have participated in non-traditional modes of learning that include blended and virtual coursework by evaluating end-of-year course data.
Busy week last week and next!
Thanks so much for your patience and work this past week. It was a bit crazy with testing, Naviance administration, and no bells. Please be at your duty stations and at your doors as much as possible this coming week as we get ready for our holiday break!
INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK
- Thanks to all of you that were involved with testing this past week. As always, there are a few challenges to overcome, but all went smoothly.
- Thanks to those of you that contributed to the "Shout Out" board this past six weeks. Feel free to share the great things about your colleagues and what's happening here at LWHS for the next 6 weeks!
- Our staff holiday lunch is this Tuesday in B109.
- Please continue to post on Twitter and Facebook. Snap a quick picture of something great in class and post!
- Since we have a campus calendar full of events, I don't want to continue putting events in this memo that are on the calendar. I will only include items that I think are unique, that you need pay special attention to, or are for some reason not on the calendar.
Faculty/ Staff Meeting Notes
Our staff meeting went too quick this past week. I wanted to make sure you had all the information I intended for you to have.
- Mrs. Rieser will be coming to PLCs soon to begin discussions about our ELL students.
- Those of you that signed in at the meeting will receive GT credit for Mrs. Church's presentation.
- Student Surveys will be administered in January before the end of the semester. Please see the email sent on Tuesday, 12/6, with the Padlet link that allows you to have input concerning the questions we ask students.
- Tardies continue to be a challenge. We have given numerous Saturday schools for students with chronic tardies. Please remember to count students tardy. If they miss more than 5 minutes of a class, count them absent. We will begin random tardy sweeps in January.
- Please do not allow students out of class unless it is an emergency. If a student with a trust pass needs out of class, that does not mean you have to let them go if they ask- it is always your discretion.
- Lesson plans and grades are due on Monday each week. Love you all, but we will be having one-on-one conversations with those that do not. If you have a question about these expectations please ask.
- Congratulations to all of you that had perfect attendance for the 2nd 6 weeks! You should have a jeans coupon in your box this week.
- Congratulations to Debbie Ludwick and Elisha Woodson for being recognized for "Teacher of the 6 Weeks!" We are proud to have you as part of our staff. Also, Congratulations to our employee of the month, Kim Pippin!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Above the line behavior is the foundation of success in anything you do. Above the line behavior...is a larger vision of where you want to go. Below the line behavior is the gravitational pull of old habits.”
