PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Rock Creek families,

We cannot believe that it is already December and we are nearing the end of 2021. It has been another eventful year. We are continuing to be amazed by the hard work that our students and their families are putting into returning to school. We know that it is not easy.

Rock Creek is a special place where students feel safe and respected. We see that each day as our students go out of their way to be kind to each other and show care for their school. We know that this is because of your support for our wonderful school.

Thank you for your continued encouragement and support. It means so much to our staff and students! Rock Creek is an amazing place full of inspiring learners!

With gratitude,

Tiffany

BIRTHDAY TREATS AND INVITATIONS

Birthday treats /prizes not to be brought to school.

Due to student allergies, equity and the number of birthdays we celebrate each month we do not allow birthday treats/prizes at school. We will however, be recognizing and celebrating birthdays on their special day in other special ways!

We also ask that private birthday party invitations or other type of private invitations NOT be delivered and distributed at school. This can lead to hurt feelings among students. Please make an effort to deliver these important messages in another manner.

Thank you for your cooperation. It is greatly appreciated.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

Winter Walk and Bike Preparation

Don’t let the cold weather keep you inside all season! Time spent being active outside can boost mood and mental health and keep kids focused and learning better. With some simple preparation, your children can still be active and stay safe and warm during our winter months.

  • Wear a raincoat or poncho and/or carry an umbrella.

  • Carry a plastic bag if you need to store wet gear.

  • Wear gloves and waterproof shoes. Carry (or store) extra shoes and socks to change into.

  • Find an under-cover area to park your
bike if possible. If not, bring a plastic bag to cover the seat.

  • Wear reflective gear and/or bright colors and use a light on your bicycle.

  • Only walk or bike in the rain if you are comfortable, as roads are slick, and visibility may

    be reduced.

Don’t let your guard down!

Our crossing guards work hard every day to help our children get to and from school safely. Whether on school property or in the community, if you see a crossing guard, please do what they are asking you to do. It takes all of us to keep the roads safe for everyone. Please be especially mindful in school zones, at intersections and crosswalks (marked and unmarked), near bike lanes and in neighborhoods. Thank you!

Very Important: Please label your students coats, hats, lunch boxes, water bottles etc with their names.
