Your child can come to school dressed in career wear
what you want to be when you grow up
See Lesson #4 for "I wish my teacher knew"....
Lesson #1 Growth Mindset
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. " Dr Seuss
We will understand the difference between growth mindset vs fixed mindset
Define Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset
Growth Mindset - Your brain can grow and change and you can learn new things.
Instead of saying...
I’m not good at this.
I’m awesome at this.
I give up.
This is too hard.
I can’t do this any better.
I made a mistake.
I just can’t do this at all.
I will never be as smart.
It’s good enough.
I’ll never get this.
Plan A didn’t work.
TRY SAYING THIS … I BELIEVE IN YOU!
What am I missing?
I’m on the right track, but I could be better!
I’ll use some of the strategies we’ve learned.
This may take some time and effort.
I can always improve, so I’ll keep trying!
Mistakes help me to learn better.
I’m going to train my brain to do it!
I’m going to figure out how my classmate does it!
Is it really my best work?
I won’t stop until I do!
Good thing the alphabet has 25 more letters!
Lesson #2 - Grit (The Power of Yet)
“And when things start to happen, Don’t worry. Don’t stew. Just go right along, you’ll start happening too.” - Dr. Suess
We will understand and apply the meaning of grit.
good questions to ask your child
What do you do when something is hard for you?
What happens when you make a mistake?
Have you ever felt like you wanted to give up?Can you remember a time when you couldn't do something, and now you can? (riding a bike, writing your name, tying your shoes, learning a sport, honor roll, multiplication facts.)
"I can" ... " I can't YET..."
Have your child brainstorm things they can’t do just yet using an “I can’t yet” chart.
Lesson #3 - Passion
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” -Dr. Suess
We will explore the passions that map our future.
I will identify my passions.”
What is the Definition of Passion?
Passion is what you love to do, what interests you, what you get excited about, and something you really care about. It is not always what you are good at; it is what you enjoy

Lesson #4 Exploring Struggles & Achievements
We will explore our individual struggles and what we want our teacher to know about us.
I wish my students parents knew
Parents please send me....
I wish my child’s teacher knew…”
You are welcome to email me, write me or give me a call and let me a little more about your child.
I only know one side of your child - what they share with me, But I know that there is so much more about your child that I would love to know. Sometimes they come in already feeling frustrated before the day has even begun because of something that happened at home, or they can’t wait to share something awesome that happened at home. We all know that sometimes we would like to talk about things in our lives, but we just don’t know how. And sometimes we know exactly what we want to say, but there seems to be no time to actually say it.
So we are going to learn about a teacher who found a way to solve this problem. She asked her students to write what they wished their teacher knew. The students would write quick notes to their teacher to let her know something sad, exciting, troubling, and even hurtful. Then the teacher would read the notes later that day or when she went home that night. This teacher was able to learn so much about her students and help them with so many issues they were facing. I would LOVE to be able to know each of you better and help in any way I can.
