Congratulations To The Varisty Ice Hockey Team For Winning Their 3rd Consecutive Suburban High School Hockey Leaque Championship!

JV Ice Hockey Team

Congratulations to the JV Ice Hockey Team for defeating Holy Ghost High School in double overtime on Thursday, March 2nd. The team will play again on Wednesday, March 8 as they take on Father Judge High School for the League Championships!

Black vs. Blue 2017

What is it? Black vs Blue is a school wide competitive event that incorporates all interested students and promotes tremendous school spirit.

Save the date:

Friday, March 24th

Pool Events: 4:00 - 5:30 PM

Dinner: 5:30 - 6:30 PM (food vendors in the cafeteria)

Gym Night: 7:00 -10:00 PM


Parent Volunteers needed to help with dinner hour, event check-in, and snack bar. Contact Mrs. Warren if available!

Bucks County World Language Tournament

On March 1st, 138 CB middle and high school students traveled to Quakertown Community High School to participate in the Annual Bucks County World Language Tournament. This tournament is sponsored by the Bucks County World Language Advisory Council. All Bucks County districts are invited to attend, bringing the total number of participants to approximately 400 students.


CB South students competed against each other and also against students from other districts in Bucks County by answering trivia questions related to the languages that they study. They also participated in scenarios and debates while speaking other languages.

Congratulations to the CB South teams who won first place and to all of the students who participated!

CB South Athletic Updates

TRACK
Last weekend, the Titans Track and Field team competed at the 2017 PTFCA Indoor State Championships at Penn State University. All athletes put in their best performances of the season. Highlights include:


-4x200 Relay squad of Madison Gordon, Ashley Conway, Abby Rehmet, and Sara Pfeiffer placing 23rd

-4x400 Relay squad of Amanda Carr, Steph Hiltpold, Nancy McGrath, and Lydia Fielding placing 18th

-Lydia Fielding placing 13th in the 200m Dash


A special congratulations to the following STATE MEDALIST:


-Matt Scarpill for achieving 7th place in the 3000 run.

-Valerie Przekop for becoming the 12th STATE CHAMPION in CB South History winning the High Jump.


Good luck to both Valerie and Matt competing at the New Balance Indoor National Championships on March 10th and 11th.


WRESTLING

The wrestling team ended their season this past weekend at sectionals hosted by Council Rock North. All wrestlers worked hard throughout the season and ended the season on a strong note. Thank you for all the support throughout the season. We want to wish all the seniors (Ray Calderario, Val Bogachev, Peter DeMallie, Ryan Lewis, and Dylan Peniston) the best of luck on all future endeavors! Thank you for a great season!


BASKETBALL

On Saturday, February 25th, the girls' basketball team traveled to Boyertown to play in the district quarterfinals. The Titans were able to pull out a 35-32 victory over the #2 seeded Boyertown. Saturday's victory earned the girls a spot in the district semi-finals against Plymouth-Whitemarsh. The Titans lost a heartbreaker 43-42 in the semi-finals and will now travel to CB West on Friday, March 3rd at 7:00 PM to play for 3rd place.

Important Information From CB South's Guidance Department

Program Planning

Program Planning for the sophomore and junior class is officially underway. All students received a copy of the 2017-2018 courses and directions of how to enter their classes in Student Portal earlier this month.


Important Program Planning dates:

Portal Opened- January 13th

Portal Closed- February 5th

Counselors will meet with students individually to verify requests- February 6th through March 8th

Verification Sheets Available- March 10th

Verification Sheets Returned (if changes are needed)- March 14th *No changes can be made after this date.


We understand that students are requesting classes before they begin their second semester courses. Students should use their best judgement and pick courses that they believe will be the most appropriate fit.

AP Exam Registration Information

By Friday, February 10th, your son or daughter will have received AP exam registration and information bulletins in their AP class or Titan Forum. Online registration (through www.MyPaymentsPlus.com) began on Monday, February 13th. Registration will end Friday, March 17th. The cost of the exams will be $98 per exam. Any questions about the exams can be sent to Mr. Tom Hill at thill@cbsd.org.

Beyond Words Book Club Sponsors A Children's Book Drive

The Beyond Words Book Club have already collected approximately 400 children's books this month. The club's book drive runs until March 10th. The books that are collected are being donated to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Reach Out and Read Program. The program distributes 200,000 gently used books for ages birth-ten years old each year. The drop off location for the club's book drive is Ms. Hutchinson's Room - C 318.

Spring registration is currently open. If you are interested in playing a spring sport, please register on Family ID and hand in the CIPPE Forms, pages 5 and 6. If you already played a fall or winter sport, please register with Family ID and have your parent or guardian fill out page 7 of the CIPPE form.

March Boomerang Award Asset

The March Boomerang Asset is CREATIVE ACTIVITIES. Young person participates in creative activities which have a direct positive impact on him/her and others. His/Her creativity can take a variety of forms - music, drama, art, etc. If you know a student who exemplifies this asset, please send your nomination to Mr. Matthew Gale at magale@cbsd.org.
