I believe the theme was to be who you are and you will be accepted and if you be yourself you will not have to hide all of the lies you tell so tell the truth and you will be accepted.
The conflict is a character versus self and the character vs society because he is not being himself. He solves these by being himself and not laying any more.
Junior is a smart young man with a few brain problems. He does not have much hope until he starts going to a different school. He learns to have hope and started to make friends a. He also learns to be a more of non outcast but learns not everyone is bad. He is a sweet considerate soul with many different life experiences to make him very wise but he is not as wise as his grandmother.
