Hum of the Hive

Dear Hewitt-Texas Family,

As we come back from our holiday season, I want to take a moment to extend gratitude to all of our parents and other family members who show support of our school each day. From the parents who volunteer their time with Hewitt-Texas PTO to the parents who send in food for conferences to the family members who put forth effort into supporting students during remote learning from home days...you are all so very much appreciated!

In addition, it was brought to my attention that our Hewitt-Texas Family Handbook that I mentioned back on August 16th was never shared to provide you information that will help you understand the policies and procedures for our school. My sincere apologies are extended to anyone who may have been inconvenienced or affected by this oversight. It has now been included and you are welcome to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that may arise as you read through this document.

We are so fortunate to be a part of our Hewitt-Texas school community and I wish you a happy and healthy new year!

Warmly,

Mrs. Channel

PTO Updates

PTO is so excited to kick off 2023! We will begin with our annual Winter Fest on January 27. This year, as we ask families to donate big batches of their best soups or chilis to share, we have added a classroom competition component. We'd like 2 soup/chili representatives from each grade level at the event, with the winning classroom receiving a special in-class activity and the Ladle of Awesomeness to display. There will also be hot dogs and cocoa available for families to serve themselves. In order to free up volunteers to enjoy the event, we're asking parents and caregivers to assist their students with serving. You will receive a flyer along with RSVP. Please get those back in by January 19th. Can't wait to see you all there!

In addition, we look forward to working in the classroom once a month. This month we will be visiting 2nd grade with a fun activity.

Our next meeting will be Monday February 6th at 4pm. We will be discussing parent teacher conferences, planning our help in the classrooms, a possible Valentine's treat, and the upcoming Leprechaun Carnival day in March. Please join us in person or via google meet meet.google.com/jzk-kbab-nma!

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please email PTO at hewitttexaspto@gmail.com
