Cell Cycle & Mitosis
By Kinley & Caroline™
Definitions
Mitosis- a type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus, typical of ordinary tissue growth.
Cell Cycle- Is the series of events that take place in a cell leading to its division and duplication (replication) that produces two daughter cells. In prokaryotes which lack a cell nucleus, the cell cycle occurs via a process termed binary fission.
Mitosis
Stages of mitosis
Cell cycle
the stages of cell cycle
Interphase
Interphase (first part of cell cycle)
The first and longest stage of the cell cycle is called the interphase. It's basically the 'daily routine' of the cells life. In this phase, the DNA is copied and the cell is preparing for duplication.
Mitosis & Cytokinesis
In mitosis, its spreading the nucleus apart, but there is another process that occurs within the cell called cytokinesis. Cytokinesis splits this cytoplasm apart to make the cycle complete. Thats the last main stage of the cell cycle.
