Darroch's Dose
Tech Tip Tuesday for February 2, 2016
It's Time to Create!
As I was cleaning out my son's junk drawer last weekend, I came across hundreds of trading cards from Pokemon to Major League Baseball. This reminded me of the ReadWriteThink website which features a Trading Card Tool that gives students the opportunity to create a trading card. This resource allows students to answer questions about a character in their text, allowing them to demonstrate their understanding of how a character develops throughout the story. Be sure to check out this tool at ReadWriteThink Trading Cards.
This tool led me to creating a trading card using Google Slides. By using one slide and selecting the title and two columns layout, I created my own trading card. Don't stop with just one! Students may create a trading card for each character in a story. Here is a start to my trading card.
Digital Learning Day
Thanks to Jamie Nutter and Sara Carpenter for preparing the announcement!
Digital learning day Feb. 17th
- All of the elementary schools have registered to participate.
- This is a day when schools across the world "actively spread innovative practices" and "highlight great teaching practice and showcase innovative teachers, leaders, and instructional technology programs that are improving student outcomes"....Which, in Hoover, we do every day! This is our chance to share publicly what we do in the classrooms on a daily basis.
- We have focused this year on the understanding of the ISTE Standards. As we approach Digital Learning Day, I would love to collect examples from you of the standards in action. Please fill out this form to submit a link to a project.
- Reminder: Please make sure the student’s full name is not on the project
- Reminder: Make sure the share link is public or anyone with the link can view
- Or email me a picture of something you would love to share. The tech team will be tweeting and blogging all of your great and hard work.
