#CelebrateMonday
4.1.19
If the excitement isn't already coursing through your veins - take a moment, people!
This is reason enough for this to be the best Monday of the week!!
Time to celebrate!
Isn't it crazy how quickly the time goes during the day - and how incredibly quickly your time is swallowed up when you return from break? Yikes!
As I was thinking about my #CelebrateMonday message this morning, I was thinking about the beauty of the calm of spring break. Whether you spent time working or if you spent time away from work, the absence of students and teachers during this time brings some quiet and some calm.
I took time to rid my head of the extraneous noise that was in there - and allowed myself to really be in the quiet calm.
Do you know the significance of taking time to quiet the mind?
And that is truly valuable and worthy work!
As leaders, we are so busy being involved in and with others - and often that brings with it noise, chaos, and stress that is not really our own.
But we cannot continuously engage in this work if we are not making time to ensure that we are maintaining some stillness and quiet within.
Take a look at your calendar and see where you can schedule in time for calm and to be still. This does not have to be full day's worth of time. Can you find 5 minutes - maybe 10 - to walk through the halls and just BE (rid your mind of things like: Who will teach in this room next year? How will students transition in our halls? How many walkthroughs have I done for teacher X?). Breathe and soak in the beauty of the learning, planning, collaborating, experiencing that is happening!
Or take a minute or two to step out of the halls and into your office. Maybe even close the door for a moment. Take a deep breath, look out the window and be quiet. Trust that if you give yourself a moment to be still that you will be more productive once the moment has ended.
Yes, it's a luxury! It's one that sounds smallish, but we all know how big of a luxury it is to take 5 minutes to pause, to be still and to be quiet. Keep the spirit of spring break alive within and return to the calm and quiet as frequently as you can! You'll be so glad you did!
And, while you're at it, make this the best Monday of the week!
