Spring Mills Shark Nation Notes
September 9, 2022
September 20th: Early Release - 2:45 pm dismissal
September 22nd: Curriculum Night 6pm/6:30pm
We made it through the first week! What a great few days it has been. We love seeing all of those student smiles. I'm not sure who was more excited to be here - our kids or our staff!
Arrival has already gotten pretty smooth! We are ready to move our first and second graders to the next level. Beginning next week, our first and second grade students will find their teachers at their classroom doors rather than out front. We will line students up by grade level out front, just as we did last year. We will have adults in the hallways making sure our kiddos get to the right place. They are navigating the building very well, and this independence is instilling pride in our younger students. There are lots of smiles happening in these hallways!
Our JK and K teachers will continue to meet their students out front for the second week of school. Beginning the third week, we will support our JK and K students in making their way to their classrooms on their own, with the help of our 4th and 5th grade safety patrol.
Please remember that the front loop is for drop and go only! Have your child sitting on the curb side of the car, pull all the way forward through the loop, and do not exit the vehicle. If you need to help your child or want to walk them to the door, please use the spaces to park your vehicle.
One last arrival reminder: Please don't drop your child before 9am. We do not have adult supervision outside of the building prior to 9am.
Dismissal: We are off to a pretty great start, getting our students delivered to vehicles and buses by 4:20! We have noticed that cars for pick up are starting to arrive as early as 3:25. Our dismissal time is 4:07. Please do not arrive prior to 4pm in order to keep traffic backup on Harvey Lake Road to a minimum.
If you need a Anchors Away sign for pickup, please request one from the office or through your child's teacher, and we will be sure to get it to you right away!
Just a quick reminder that the grant that provided free lunch to all students has expired. Students will be charged for lunches, but HVS is continuing to provide free breakfast for all students.
Also, please take a moment to see if you could qualify for free and reduced lunch! Click on the links below for qualifiers and the application.
Finally, thank you so much for continuing to show your ID at our secure entrance when picking up students early or dropping off items. We appreciate your help in providing the safest possible environment for our students!
And as always, thank you for your partnership! We appreciate our Shark Families!
Have a terrific weekend,
Sarah Bentley, Principal
