School Closing Updates

Dear Komarek Family,

Thank you for bearing with us as we navigated through the unknown during the COVID-19 outbreak. We understand that it hasn't been easy, but your patience is so greatly appreciated. This is the last week of remote learning for students. Please remember that students can turn in late work through Friday, May 22nd. Report cards will be sent out electronically on Friday, June 5th.

You will find important information within this newsletter from PTA programming to student belonging pickup.

The Komarek Administration

Grab and Go Meals for the Week of May 18th

Grab and go meals can be picked up in the corridors of the School Office. There are 2 pickup times this week:

Monday, May 18th - Grab and go meals for Monday through Wednesday. Pickup is from 8 am to 10 am.

Thursday, May 21st - Grab and go meals for Thursday and Friday. Pickup is from 8 am to 10 am.

Meals are for any students (preschool through high school) who are in need of a meal. A survey was sent out last week in regards to the number of students who will need grab and go meals. If you did not respond to the survey or did not receive it, please contact Dr. Gold at

8th Grade Graduation

A school closing update about 8th grade graduation was sent to 8th grade families on Friday, May 15th. If you missed the newsletter, click here to read it.

Student Belonging Pickup the Week of May 26th

The information below explains how you will be picking up your child's belongings. The structure of belonging pickup is in respect to COVID-19 guidelines.

Grade levels are assigned to a specific date for pickup. Read below to see when your child will have their belongings available.

Tuesday, May 26th: 1st & 8th

Wednesday, May 27th: 2nd & 5th

Thursday, May 28th: 3rd & 6th

Friday, May 29th: 4th & 7th

On an assigned day, we ask that families pickup the belongings according to their last name and time listed below.

A - F: 10 am - 11 am

G - L: 11 am - 12 pm

M - P: 12 pm - 1 pm

Q - Z: 1 pm - 2 pm

The instructions below will assist us with prompt service and no physical contact.

Grades 1 - 3: Pull up in front of the west building with your child's name on a piece of paper that is displayed on the window. A staff member will bring your child's belongings to your car. Please prepare to pop your trunk so that your child's belongings can be placed in there. You do not have to get out of the car. :-)

Grades 4 - 8: Park in the parking spots on 24th St in front of the district office entrance. Have your child's name displayed on your dashboard. A staff member will bring your child's belongings to your car. Please prepare to pop your trunk so that your child's belongings can be placed in there. You do not have to get out of the car. :-)

Note: Any library books that are at home should be brought back to school during your belonging pickup time. We will collect them.

Fun-filled activities from the PTA!

We've made it! This is the final week of school. It looks quite a bit different than any of us imagined, but hopefully we can still have a little bit of fun.

Below is a flyer listing fun activities for the week and scavenger hunt cards. Scavenger hunt cards can also be found on the PTA Facebook page. Pick one of the three cards and fill in addresses for where you find each item. Once your card is full, email it to The first 3 entries per grade will get a prize.

Komarek's Virtual Enrichment Summer School

Program and Field Trip Balances

As we come closer to the end of the school year, several questions have come up regarding lunch program balances and non-participation athletic fees, etc. Komarek’s past procedures has been to credit the student’s upcoming registration fees and/or lunch account. We will follow this direction this school year as well. The exceptions to this will be field trip dollars; these will be automatically refunded and will be available for pick-up with your student’s belongings. Please watch your email for further information regarding specific pick-up days and times.

The second exception would be for our 8th graders and students transferring out. All 8th grade balances and graduation fees will be refunded and available for pick-up after May 26th. Again, the exact days and times are to be announced. Pre-ordered yearbooks will be distributed with your student’s belongings.
