Wrightstown Ravens' News

Reminder - Friday, March 12th is an Early Dismissal Day - AM Kindergarten Attends
Dear WES Families,
It has been a fun week celebrating our love of READING! Students enjoyed guessing the daily masked reader during morning announcements, spirit dress-themed days, and the virtual Camp Read In! Additionally, to kick off Wrightstown's building-wide reading incentive, students received a grade-level appropriate book to keep! Please read the specific information included below in this newsletter regarding our reading incentive program. Start filling out those reading logs! WE CAN DO IT WES!
To complement the Read Across America theme, our virtual book fair is currently underway! Don't miss out! Book orders are being accepted until Sunday, March 7th!
Looking ahead to the 4th marking period, parents will be able to change their child's registration from the virtual to in-person learning model or vice versa. The window will be open from March 11th through the end of the school day on March 16th. This change can be done by emailing me with the request along with whether your child will need transportation.
Keep reading and enjoy your weekend!
Beth

Updated: PA Travel Requirements
PA has lifted any travel requirements for out-of-state travel. No longer do people over 11 years old or older need to provide a negative test or quarantine if they have traveled out of the state.
Schoolwide Reading Incentive
At Wrightstown, we always expect our students to read independently each day. To help encourage this independent reading, we are rolling out a new incentive program. In a normal school year, students are expected to read daily about 20 minutes a day. This goal has been a little challenging this year, so we are rolling out this program in the hope that we can get our reading goals back on track! We are making this a whole school community event. The March goal is for all of our students to read at least 76,000 minutes and the incentive for reaching that goal is going to be a whole school pajama day! Our goals are going to be a little more crazy and exciting as the months go on, culminating with a very messy situation for Mrs. Fox, but that is a surprise for later!
Here are the details: beginning March 1st, the official start of Read Across America Week, we will provide students with reading logs - they can record their minutes of reading virtually or on paper. By the end of the month, however, they need to log in to a Google Form and record their total minutes read for the month. This Google Form will be accessible from their Google Classroom. Here is a video that we are sharing with the students explaining it a little more clearly.
I hope that you are as excited as we all are for this exciting event! We are kicking off this program by giving each child a brand-new grade level appropriate book! The books will be distributed as soon as they are delivered. Thank you for all your support at home!

Raven Ready - PBIS Information
Our Positive Behavior Intervention Support program (PBIS), otherwise known as Raven Ready is up and running again! With PBIS, students are explicitly taught the expectations and procedures for each area of our school. Teachers are in the process of teaching and reviewing with students the expectations in areas such as the classroom, hallways, bus, cafeteria, etc. Through this explicit instruction, students learn about expected and unexpected behaviors in each area of our school. PBIS strives on being a positive support system, where the adults in the school are recognizing good behavior and decision-making. Your child may have already earned a Raven Reward!
PBIS is enforced school-wide by every member of the Wrightstown Elementary School staff. Please click on the button below for more information. You can also find this information on the WES website, tabs on the left side.
Our board is starting to fill up! Keep up the great work, Ravens!

Zoom links can be found under the "Ms. Gulnac" topic heading on the "classwork" page of your student's google classroom. This opportunity is available to all virtual students.

A Note from the Nurse's Office
As you know, starting this year we asked that there be no food sent in with birthday celebrations. In the interest of Covid precautions, we are asking that nothing be brought in for distribution to the class. Thank you for understanding and helping to keep our WES community safe.
REMINDER: All 3rd graders need a dental and all 6th graders need a physical as these are mandated requirements for school.
