Registration for the 2022-23 School Year
Check out page 5, where you will find links to different career pathways. Each pathway has a guide to help students decide which pathway fits best for them and suggested courses to take in high school. Take a look at the Health Science example.
On page 12, you can explore all of the dual credit options we offer to students, such as Advanced Placement, Articulated Credit, PLTW, and PSEO.
We want students to make informed decisions when registering for courses, so we will be providing extra opportunities for them to investigate courses that meet their interest areas and help prepare them for their post high school path.
Please understand that once students submit their course choices (at the end of February), those are the courses they will be enrolled in the following year. We base all of our staffing and teacher hiring on student course requests, so it is highly unlikely that we will be able to honor course request changes after March.
Conferences - February 7
We will be hosting parent/teacher conferences on Monday, February 7th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Please use this link https://ptcfast.com/schools/Mankato_West_High_School to schedule conference times with your student’s teachers. You will find your student's teachers by viewing their schedule on your parent portal in Infinite Campus. If you need assistance with PTCFast please access this video for support.

Registration Exploration
Students will be provided information throughout the next week about our different elective offerings. We encourage students to decide on some interest areas, and visit with those teachers during conference night. This will help students make informed decision as to the classes they would like to register for next year.
PSEO Informational Meeting
On Monday, February 7th at 5pm, the school counseling staff at Mankato West High School will hold an informational meeting for current students and parents who would like to learn more about the Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program. The meeting will take place in the Auditorium at West High School.
Students who will be in grades 10-12 for the 2022-23 school year may be eligible if they meet the necessary academic requirements set by the college or university. PSEO is a dual enrollment program where a student can earn high school and college credit simultaneously by taking courses at a participating Minnesota college. Additional information about PSEO is available on the District Website.
Dual Credit Informational Meeting
Information will include Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Articulated Credit courses, Concurrent Enrollment courses and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses. All of these courses offer students the opportunity to earn high school credit, as well as college credit.
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Informational Meeting
Special Services Registration Meetings
Our families with students receiving ELL services will meet in room 222 with our ELL teachers and cultural liaisons.
Our families with students receiving Special Education services will meet in the cafeteria with Special Education teachers/case managers.
Masking Mandate
Due to the high number of COVID cases in our high schools at this time, we are extending the mask mandate for one more week. Next Thursday, February 3rd, we will review the data to determine if the mandate will continue, or if masks will be recommended but not required.
Upcoming Surveys
Next week, 9th and 11th grade families will receive this information in the mail on the Minnesota Student Survey. Every three years students in grades 9 & 11 take the Minnesota Student Survey. The important information from this survey helps our school and community develop effective programs to better serve and support our students and families. This survey will be administered to students on Tuesday, February 15th.
