Exemptions and Fall Semester Final Exam Information
As we approach the end of the fall semester, we would like everyone to be aware of the guidelines for exemptions and the exam schedule. In order to exempt a final you must have at least an 85 average for the semester and meet the following attendance requirements:
No more than 4 tardies in any one period for the class you want to exempt (If the class is double blocked, you cannot have four or more tardies for any one period to be eligible for an exemption).
No more than 3 absences in any one period of the class you want to exempt (If the class is double blocked, you cannot have four or more absences for any one period to be eligible for an exemption).
Dual credit must follow the guidelines established in the course syllabus.
Perfect attendance exemptions can be used for a class with a 70 average or above as long as you have met attendance requirements.
Can food drive exemptions can be used for a class with a 70 average or above regardless of meeting attendance requirements.
Change for 2018-2019: All classes will be eligible for exemptions, this includes Accelerated and Pre-AP.
The exam schedule is included in the attachment below.
Don't Forget to Fall Back - Nov. 4
PSAT 8/9 - Nov. 7
All 9th grade students are encouraged to sign up for the PSAT 8/9 offered on November 7th at Lubbock-Cooper High School. The test will be at 8:10 am in the PAC. Cost is $11.00 and students can sign-up in the Counseling Center on the iPad.
The PSAT 8/9 helps students determine what they need to work on most so that they’re ready for college when they graduate from high school.
A Head Start
The PSAT 8/9 tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10—in a way that makes sense for eighth and ninth graders. It measures what they’re already learning, shows them whether they’re on track for college, and lets them know where they need the most improvement. That means students have time to tackle these areas long before they take the SAT.
Personalized Practice
Students over 13 can share their scores with Khan Academy® to create a personalized practice experience. It’s the best way to prepare for other tests in the SAT Suite of Assessments, and Khan Academy is free!
ASVAB Career Exploration Program - Nov. 8
Free Aptitude assessment for 10th-12th graders, November 8th at 8:15 am.
Sign-up in the Counseling Center on the iPad by November 6th!
