A Prayer for Christmas

Jesus, the Light of the World, as we celebrate your birth may we begin to see the world in the light of the understanding you give us.

As you chose the lowly, the outcasts, and the poor to receive the greatest news the world had ever known, so may we worship you in meekness of heart.

May we also remember our brothers and sisters less fortunate than ourselves in this season of giving.

Merry Crhistmas From Our Staff and Students

We hope you enjoy this virtual Christmas Card created by the Staff and Students of JPI!

Dear John Paul I Families

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

Lord, fill our hearts with your love, and as you revealed to us by an angel the coming of your Son as man, so lead us through his suffering and death to the glory of his resurrection, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Time has certainly passed very quickly and here we are in the season of Advent. As we begin this special liturgical season, we are reminded that it is not only a time of joyous anticipation, but also of penance and preparation for the great Christmas feast.

As we journey through this season, let us remember that as we become immersed in the busy time of Christmas, we need to be even more focused on Christ’s birth - the true meaning of Christmas.

All our staff continues to look forward to working with each student and parent to emphasize their personal ownership of their learning. If you know of something happening at JPI that excites your child, please give that staff member a sunshine call.

Yours truly, on behalf of staff,

T.Peterson G. Antipán

Principal/Directora Assistant Principal/Subdirectora

Escuela John Paul I Giving Tree

Each year our families join together, demonstrating the true meaning of Christmas. This year, there were 70 children on our Giving Tree. It is a true testament to the presence of Jesus in our families as every child on our tree will receive a gift to open on Christmas morning. We wish to express how grateful we are for you, the parents of JPI who are here to support all members of our school community. We are blessed.!

COVID-19 Reporting over the Christmas Break

As we head into the Christmas break, Edmonton Catholic Schools is committed to keeping our families in the know about COVID-19 cases. We understand this information is important as you plan and prepare for the holidays. Alberta Health Services has assured us it will continue to notify our Division of the cases involving students or staff who were infectious while at school even after the final day of classes on December 17. We will share this information on the COVID-19 Notifications page on our website. This means if AHS determines there was a potential exposure at our school, the school's name, the cohort, and the date that the case was reported to us will be listed. We will also include the guidance and recommendations from AHS about monitoring your child for any COVID-19 symptoms. The website is updated every weekday around 5 pm, excluding holidays.
